Question

Hi,
I've been twisting knobs and pushing faders for years. I'm a songwriter/singer- not an engineer. I've had several different recording setups through the years. Fostex E-16, ADAT, Fostex-fd-8. Question: I have an i-MAC and a Compaq Presario- if I go to "computer recording", will it drive me crazy trying to learn? I have enough trouble with my standard set-up. Thanks for any thoughts! kmar

Wink

kmar,

I'm a player/songwriter with probably much less hands on engineering experience than you. In fact I never had an interest before in the engineering side until I got my digital 4trac. I learned about an inexpensive editing software here and I'm actually beginning to get a handle on it in just a couple of months.

It seems like you probably have enough experience with engineering already, that's really the hard part in my opinion,I'm still learning about compression. The actual mechanics of computer recording is pretty easy. Scour computer audio forums like this one and you'll pick it up quickly.
