I just got a Davisound TB6

I got it in the mail the other day and finally had some time to hook it up. It was the version that hayne had on the unique special items that was sent back and i had some instrument inputs installed on them to. It didnt have the cool looking wooden panel, instead it had and alluminum faceplate in some ugly off white color. I was doing some comparison between the TB6 and my RNP. The TB6 sounds brighter to my ears and clear. I really liked the variable gain also, as opposed to the RNP's gain. Then again I dont know what the hell i'm talking about. I also got a kick out of the smell of wood.

I have an rnc and remember reading somewere that it doesnt accept balanced inputs. If this is true is there some work around on getting it to work with my TB6.

Compairing the pre's also made me realize how crappy my room sounded. Know if only i can find some 703 in L.A. somewere.

Chingon....

Congrats, man! Hope you dig it.... know I dig mine.

As far as the RNC, it's no sweat. I've been using the same cables I made up that would normally go from PRE to recorder, which are just XLR to TRS stereo 1/4" and they do the job as well as anything.

The variable gain IS cool...I still wish I understood how it works though.

Now go have some fun!

I WANT ONE!

Give me yours!
I have wanted one for a while, but I am saving for building a new studio building.
I'll give yours back when I am through with it.

Yo tmix,
I had been wanting a toolbox for a long time. When I saw the one I bought on the unique and special items for about half the price I didnt hesitate to jump on it. I was thinking about selling my RNP and picking up another toolbox.

Yeah,
Over a year ago when the TB-6 first came out for under $950 I hesitated. Now they are too much for my budget. I wanted one to keep permanently hooked up to my drum kit. I have several RNPs and love them. I have even thought about the 8 channel JLM pre, but if I don't keep saving for my construction, I'll never get any kind of facility to spread out in. I am looking forward to finally having some room particularly a nice sized drum room.

Hey Tonio,
I just got back from buying some 703. I found a place in the city of industry that sells this stuff and the best part was they were only a few blocks away from were I live. The place only sells them in bundles of 24 for about $100, they worked down the price a little for me to.
