any cons?

i think i'm going to buy this program. is there any problems or bad things about it that i should know?

Yeah, it crashes regularly...especially on Windows95/98. It's also less efficient than the pro stuff based on the reports I've read. It also doesn't have some features...like you can't output a track to a certain output on a multiple output soundcard. (not that I have one)

BUT....and this is a BIG OLD BUT, it's so cheap that I will always recommend it. I am absolutely positively not disappointed with my purchase. I've been using it for about 4 months and am not even close to thinking about buying anything else.

So, buy it. Just don't be suprised when it doesn't scratch your ass and walk your dog. It more than gets the job done. Also be sure to constantly check the website for upgrades...flavio has been pumping out new features like there's no tommorrow...and upgrades are free after you buy.

I'm guessing that it won't be long before n-Track is on the same level as the big boys.

BTW, go check out the discussion forum over at the website. It will answer MANY of your questions....and that kind of support is rare these days.

Hey,

Before you buy n-tracks and put up with crashes and it's lack of included plugins, go check out Power Tracks Pro Audio 6.0. Up to 48 midi or digital audio tracks, alot of included effects and hasn't crashed on me yet.

A friend of mine has a 133MHZ PC and he has gotten as many as 16 tracks on it! I have a 433MHZ Celeron and I have gotten as many as 24 tracks (ran out of ideas!). GREAT PRODUCT, excellent customer service and it costs less than n-tracks at a mere $29. Don't take it from me, try it yourself at PG music, heres the link..

I'll pretty much agree with S2K abuot n-track being less efficient than the pro stuff, but I beg to differ on the crashes. It all really depends on your machine, I haven't had a problem with crashing, but of course I have a machine whose sole purpose is recording, so I have somewhat of an advantage, I dont have to have a whole bunch of other crap on my computer. And it DOES support custom routing for multiple output soundcards, I know I have one.
But I would say the very best thing abuot N-Track is the support, Flavio reads the message board regularly, but most of the time other users will help you out.
And as S2K poitns out, it will be up there with the big boys one day, it's getting better everyday. The latest version 2.07 (last time I checked) is really solid, I dont think you will be dissapointed if you buy it.

It has its limits like the boys said. But my personal limits are way below what it does. In other words even if it is not a stellar $500 program, it is one hell of a learning tool. I have been able to gripe about the shortcommings (which were my own stupidity) and not regret spending the 35 bucks. After I as a home recorder am edjucated more, perhaps I can spend 10 times the amount on a more advanced program that I am even close to being in league with.

I haven't run n-Track on Win95/98 since 2.03 which was getting pretty bad. On NT4 it ran fairly well. 2.04 was ok but there was a stop button bug that would crash the application. 2.06 is what I'm running now and it's fairly stable though there's a bug with adding and removing pluggins...though I heard that was fixed in 2.07. I think I'm going to install 2.07 tonight.

It's definately worth the money man. It looks great and has enough of the "big boy" features that you'll learn a considerable amount about software multitrack recording.

cool! i think i'm gonna go ahead and get it. the main thing i love from the demo is the awsome interface. you just can't beat a program that is so easy from the get go. i also downloaded two other programs for multi track, and for the life of me i can't figure them out. i hate looking through manuals through the computer. you're eyes get blury and your comprehension drops in about 2 seconds. a crash here or there is a small price to pay for such a well laid out program.
