No sound recorded into cool edit

Help!!!

When I hook up my bass or guitar to the tascam I can't get to record any sound on to Cool Edit.

Can someone PLEASE help me?

US-428's manual does not help much.

did you make sure the sound card is armed properly in Cool Edit Pro? Can you record using windows recorder?

I am using a Tascam US-428 via USB and I was told I could record music that way, am I wrong?

I have no problem recording into Cool Edit using my Mic input in my sound blaster card connected directly to my mother board. But I get nothing out of my tascam. I have set the preferences in cool edit. everything should be ready to work.

I was just wondering if I was missing something form the cool edit side.

click rec 1 and select the Tascam via USB....
each track has to have a source selected unless you choose "same for all"...
you also have to arm the track by hitting the red "R" button....


should work then...
