I disagree with that. Ever heard the stock plugs that come with protools? especially the limiter and comp?

Freeverb 2
MDA Limiter
Ruby Tube
Saturator
Blockfish
Paris EQ (as soon as I figure out how to use it)

all free, I don't do a lot of heavy duty audio processing, this is basically what's made the short list of all the stuff I've hunted down on the web.

The two most underrated plugs in my opinion:

Classic Compressor (http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-compressor.php) - which, amazingly enough, is FREE.

and Steinberg's "Natural Verb", which is my current favorite software reverb. I haven't heard another PC verb that compares with it.

Most OVERrated (and overused):

Any software "sonic maximiser" - they all sound like ass to me.

The Waves L1/L2 shit. Yuck! leave those things off!

Chris

Why not just ask people to list what's in their wallets? It's about as relevant as asking what plugins are on their system. For my part, I have a lot of cheap, free, and expensive plugins, and they all have served some purpose at one time or another. But the best ones--the only ones that can actually make or break a session--are attached to either side of my head.

And I have $26 in my wallet, and $1.05 in change in my pocket.
