Teac Model 5 Mixer
In the deep recesses of one of my closets is an ancient Model 5 mixer, probably from the mid 60's. I picked it up as part of a trade deal many years ago, and I have never gotten it out. It weighs about a million pounds, plus or minus, and is big as a Buick. Does anyone have an opinion on the mic pre's? Vintage or obsolete junk?

The Model 5 mixer was from the 70's and was not a piece of junk then or now.
It offered some pretty serious routing and mixing capabilities and had decent mic pre-amps as well as very good tone controls to smooth out your sound. It was a little on the hissy side if you were recording very quiet vocals or soft acoustic guitar parts which newer models were cleaner by a moderate degree but it is still a usable piece in today's modern recording environments and is worth having for more then just a fancy door stop or boat anchor. Thanks for the input!
I'll get it out and play with it some. |
