Man Listen!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a brand nubian with apsolutely no experience with studio equipment of any sort. I've recorded in a low budget studio that used cakewalk and I didn't understand it or how it worked. All i know is that I came out on disc. Lately I've seperated myself from the B.S. because that crew werent as serious as myself about their music. To make a long story short, I want to know what would be the first step to me learning and understanding the words and phrases i will face and where should i start when it comes to purchasing my own equipment? I want to learn how to do it myself because I can comprehend, just lost at the momment. Somebody help the G, please. Oh yeah I have an e-machine desktop joint, is that a start or do you have any other suggestions for a stronger system.

Do you have any gear at all? A soundcard?

This is a good place to start and you will get help but it might be a good idea to tell us what you want to do. What kind of music will you be recording? Will you be recording a band? What sort of instruments do you plan to record?

If you answer some basic questions you will be able to start narrowing things down as far as things like gear go.

Provide some details about your computer too.

And answer yourself one very important question....Are you willing to completely have your life consumed by getting into recording?

Talking

Yo LA Wilson:

Go to a Junior College or bigger college in your area and take an electronic music course, if offered. They are offered in many colleges.

This course for a small amount of $$ will give you understanding of recording and the students in the class can be a great asset if you ask questions and are willing to work in the "lab" for hours just for the sake of learning.

I think this environment will get you started in "some" direction on a positive road.
