sm pro audio preamps

does anyone have any experience with these? are they decent preamps?

I've got the 8 channel strip. From day one only 7 of them worked. The sound is pretty muddy and lacks definition.

I bought it because I wanted to record drums and didn't have much money. So for that I'm happy - it was a good deal as far as quantity (not quality) for a small amount of cash. But I look forward to the day that I don't ever have to use it anymore.

Yamaha MLA7 is a good one...and affordable.

You may be able to experiment with new opamps in that sta.
