Any Unsquashed new music out there?

Any Unsquashed new music out there

that I could buy at your average record store?

I am really looking for examples to compare sick heavy compression to. I hope there's something. Looking at rock,or anything close.

Or do I have to go to a certain year backwards and listen to older stuff; what could that be pre-1990, '95, '98? (I mean, would this really be my only option?)

thanks

Jet would DEFINITELY be a great example of some "unsquashed" rock. Raw, classic-sounding, and powerful. I dig 'em, oddly enough.

Jet is really cool. They are starting to get some radio play around here. Very raw sounding.

yeah I started hearing their first single here on the radio recently and had an instant reaction to it. (I went to their site and realized that I HAVE heard them !) Was it the sound quality ?? I mean all the instruments sounded really good. I don't know if was hearing less compression but wow , it all stood out and wasn't dominated by whooshy cymbals and distorted kick drums.
