Best pluggins..
In your opinion, what are the best pluggins for

TC Parametric EQ is the best. (love how you can decouple the left and right chanels. The loudness control kicks butt too.) Intuitive display. Sound is everything.
Waves C4 multi band compressor wrocks. Not totally intuitive at the start, but once you get going, you're hooked. Presets are handy starting points. Excellent manual. Waves and TC both make excellent reverbs.

Well . . . when you talk about EQ plugins, it's kind of hard to mention anything other than the Sony Oxford EQ. It's like $800 and the algorythms are pretty intense. It's pretty much going to smoke any of the cheaper stuff, although there's no doubt the waves' and timeworks stuff is pretty decent.
As for compression, I think ever since the Mackie / UAD plugins hit the market, they pretty much took over. I've played with them, and like them a lot. Not enough to justify buying a whole new set of plugs when I'm perfectly happy with Waves, but I'd say their compression is a small nudge better. As for Reverb, it's pretty obvious to me that nothing can touch Sonic Foundry's Accoustic Mirror yet. Mind you, I haven't had a chance to play with Dreamverb, which is supposed to be some big deal now. Honestly, though, I don't really think there's any one best reverb plugin. None of them are particularly stunning yet, as technology is still trying to catch up to where better algorythms can be used and still be processor-efficient.

i'd say it depends on the application
waves renaissance comp and vox i find great for vocals UAD1176 KILLS ON DRUMS!!!(i just purchased it and I LOVE IT!) for sub mix or mix bus i like the PSP vintage warmer UADDreamverb best S/w reverb i've heard(the parameters are crazy dry to humid air wtf??!)...timeworks reverbx is definitly up there though For EQ it depends...for a musical eq i'd go with the timeworks eq or the UAD Cambridge...or a 'beefy' eq would be the UAD pultec for transparent- waves LINbroad band eq or Voxengo Curve eq Chess- isn't acoustic mirrors reverb sound dependant on the impulse...?

Uh . . . that's the same thing as Accoustic Mirror, basically.
 And yea, Teach, it is dependent on the impulse. Sonic Foundry budles a bunch of pre-made impulses with their software, though. I particularly like the stairwells and hallways, because they're far more natural than anything you'd get with a canned reverb.

I do this on semi-pro level. It does cost a lot, but in the end it's worth it. I make more money than my real job sometimes! IMO the computer makes things cheaper than buying a whole rack.

Ultrafunk plugs are distributed 'free' in Sonar3 Producer Edition - which is like the Sonar XL distribution.
I'm diggin (and learning) the multiband opto response curves - vintage I think they call it. The presets sound pretty good to wet your whistle ! So anyone with Sonar 2 & 3 has the Timeworks stuff and the Ultrafunk suite - cool !  It doesn't stop me from wondering about Waves though... I guess I could demo a couple of plugs. Too bad they won't sell them seperately (?) just in the Ren-Pack or Gold-Pack or whatever it is. Then there's the dongle...are those fightin words over here ? Ha Ha !  kylen

Kylen, I use the Waves stuff all the time, but if all of them were to suddenly disappear off my computer . . . and all I had to work with were ultrafunk and timeworks, I don't think I'd really miss the waves stuff too bad if at all.

Waves rock. I don't care for Waves reverb (probably just because I haven't figured it out yet...) so I use rgcAudio reverb.

Reverb: Spin Audio Roomverb....
Compressors: Waves, TC X and Cool Edit Distortion. Limiters: Waves L2... hehe Antares Mic Modeller is way cool too.
