Hy there.

I just got me a new behringer dsp 1124 feedback destroyer.
If there is anyone outhere who has some experience with it, could you give me a few tips. on how to set it up. I use it mainly for feedback supression in a conference environment. The problem is I have to insert it on the main output path. I use more than 2 microphones with it.

I've got one. I presume when you say on the main output path, you mean between the mixer and the amp, which is the correct place for it. It is by no means a cure all and you should only view it as a last resort, once you have done all you can with mic and speaker placement.

A major point is that it causes problems with multi band EQ's, particularly if these are after it in the signal chain - it can make things worse rather than better. Make sure it's the last piece of equipment before the amp.

The default setting when you turn it on is automatic feedback suppression, on two separate channels. You need to give yourself some time before the delegates arrive to get it working. Slowly increase the volume till you get the first problem; it takes the Behri a fair few moments to identify the problem frequency and notch it down. Once it's done so, raise the volume again, giving it time to settle at each problem frequency until you are at target volume.

What it will not do is entirely help with problems if you are passing a mic around delegates etc., it's simply not quick enough to catch that howl before everybody knows about it. Perhaps as part of you set up process you could walk around with a mic; it will identify each problem frequency as you find it, and once its notched one it holds onto it until all the channels are used up.
