newbie set up question

Hiya, Is there any way to run a line from channel 1 of my mixer into the 1 in of my delta1010 card into GTPro channel 1 of the mixer while having it paned left and not have the other channels that are also recording paned left bleed, or share that audio wav?
Or do we always have just left and right tracks? trying to record a band doing one takes and want to be able to alter edit each track/mic seperatly after recording.

Thanx,
bone

If your mixer has Direct Outs or Channel Inserts you should be able to use those to go directly to the sound card.

The delta 1010 will take up to 8 analog inputs, so if your mixer has an equivilent number of channels, you should be able to record 8 separate inputs simultaneously.

(Although I'm not sure whether GT will allow more than two channels at a time. You might need to go to Sonar. Check the specs.)

yo dachay2tnr

Hi, I am using the Direct Outs from the mixer, four of them, into the same four of the soundcard like you mentioned. But you can only chose to record at the bottom of each track on GTPro Left, Right, or Stereo and all the ones you have paned left run together, and all the ones paned right run together. Can I get that sepeation I'm looking for with Sonar? How does that work? Or do you think ther's a different way to set up the mixer?

First thing I would do is run the Wave Profiler in GT Pro to make sure it knows about your card.

Are you running the 1010 or the 1010lt?

If your card accepts 8 ins, and GT Pro has profiled the card successfully, then you should be able to see & select from the bottom of each channel in the GT Pro mix view, a list of the left, right and stereo inputs it will accept on each of the 4 channels.

On the face of it, it sounds like your card is only accepting a single stereo channel or 2 mono inputs.

I think Bulls Hit is on the right track. It sounds as if GT is not seeing your Delta 1010.

My guess is that you have a second audio card, and right now GT is only seeing the other card. Otherwise, you should see input choices of Delta 1/2 Left, Delta 1/2 Right, Delta 1/2 Stereo, Delta 3/4 Left, Delta 3/4 Right, etc.

This is usually the result of using WDM drivers for one card, but MME drivers for the other. Cakewalk products won't let you mix driver modes with two cards.

Go to Options > Audio and look on the Drivers tab. Do you see the Delta listed there?

What OS are you using? If you are using Win 98 or Win ME, you might have to go with MME drivers. I'm not familiar with GT Pro, but see if there is a way to force it to use MME drivers (in Sonar the choice is in Options > Audio > Advanced.

I'm using the 1010lt card

I'm using the 1010lt card. On the bottom of each channel I can select left, right or stereo from the delta card. I did the scan and it was successfull. I went to the drivers tab and my drivers are there for this card. I'm using winXP. Could you help me set the sound card patchbay/router or maybe I'm not using the right drivers for input and output from the GTpro under Options/Audio?
I tried again last night but I get the same thing. Doing drums, I have a Kick mic, Snare, and two overheads. I pan 1/kick left, 2snare right, 3overhead1 left, and 4overhead2 right. My kick and overhead1 come out with the same audio wav and my snare and overhead 2 have the same audio wav.
Don't give up on me guys! Much Thanx

Not 100% sure, but I think the 1010lt only allows 2 ins, so you're maxing it out already.

To do what you want, your only option is to trade up. A delta 44 will give you 4 ins and a 1010 will give you 8.

The Delta 1010 LT has 8 inputs too (it's exactly like the "regular" 1010 except for the breakout box).

I thought that GT Pro was the limiting factor...

In GTPro each track can only be recorded in left, right or stereo on a selected driver for a selected card. Does anybody record real drums? What are you using for software? I have 32 tracks on my GTPro mixer. I can use them all at once. How Do You Get Each Channel Seperate?

Yeh you're right of course.

I don't know what's going on here because GT Pro will happily record from as many inputs as are available.

I've got a delta 44 and I record drums with 3 mics on 3 seperate tracks, and I've got one input left over

Bone - can you post a screen shot of the sound card selection you are getting in GT Pro.

Something is not right here. As mentioned above, you should be getting a choice of Delta 1/2 Left, Delta 1/2 Right, Delta 1/2 Stereo, Delta 3/4 Left, Delta 3/4 Right, etc.

By choosing 1/2 Left for Track 1, 1/2 Right for Track 2, 3/4 Left for Track 3, 3/4 Right for Track 4, and so on, you should be able to record from 8 different sources simultaneously.

The fact that you are not seeing all of these inputs seems to say that GT Pro is not seeing your Delta card at all, or you have the wrong driver installed.

When you go to the Drivers Tab, do you see your other card? If so, try and deselect it and see what happens. IN the meantime, give us a screenshot.

not sure how to do a screen shot:-(
Under options/audio for my drivers there is only the delta card and I can select either 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 stereo, and monitor mixer. I could see selecting 1/2 for my first two channels but under each channel then I can only select 1/2Left, 1/2Right, 1/2 stereo. I can't select a different driver for each channel. Is there a wat to?

Ah ha!

Go back to Options Audio, hold down the CTRL key and select each 1/2, 3/4, 5/6.. etc until they are all highlighted, and save.

Now you should be able to choose from all of them in the channel buttons in Mix view

But dachay, I think GT Pro only alows you record 2 channels simultaneously... even though you have multiple I/O card, you can only have two mono (as using L and R channel separately) or one stereo channel, no matter how many input you assign in the audio driver selection tab...
