I've got a fairly nice Dell P4 2Ghz, plenty of RAM, XP, etc. laptop with the POS Crystal WDM integrated audio card, mic in h/ph out connecters. I cannnot hear what i am recording no matter how I change my mixer or GTPro settings. I can hear existing tracks when i'm recording just fine, just not the track i am currently recording. Anyone able to help? Or am I going to have to buy a USB audio adapter/card? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As if you could'nt tell i'm a total newbie with this stuff and I could'nt find anything similar using search but, i'm sure this has been answered before.

Have you tried adjusting the mic in volume in the Windows mixer?
Also make sure it's not muted |

If the soundcard got it's own software then you might want to check that out too.

Then get a full duplex card, as in a card that can play back and record at the same time.

Thats what i thought i'd have to do but i was hoping that there was a way w/out spendin the cash. Thanks for your help folks. I'll probably just get the USB Midiman mobile pre even though it only allows 16 bit rec/playback. That should be good enough for my purpose. Thanks again.
