Begger at your door

Hi there.

Look, I REALLY am in desparate mode now. let me tell you how it is...at the moment.

i have a Realtek AC97 sound card, am using cubase vst32 and have an 8 track Behringer mixer. On my soundcard there are 3 holes. A line in, speakers and mic. According to the pc guy in the shop today, both line in and mic are in puts. The speaker is an output.

Right so, I have from my soundcard cables running out of the line in, into the L & R of channel 7/8. (which I have been using for playback.)

The cables running out of the speaker output from the soundcard are running into AUX sends 1 & 2 on the desk.

Is this right????? Apparently not as I get a signal in the mic (which is in channel 1) but no playback whether I am recording or not.

Can you help me please? Nassa

You should have the line input plugged into the send of your mixer - you plug outputs into inputs

It should be......

Mixer outputs - line in.
Soundcard output (speakers) - stereo input of your mixer

You shouldn't need to use your mic input at all with this set up. It will give you two channels (Left and Right) and playback (through the speaker outputs).

Thank you Thank you Thank you xox

MY GOD!!!!!It works!!
Man, you can sleep very well tonight!!

So, I got the inputs and outputs all under control...nothing in the mic input of soundcard...can hear playback fine. Now playback is governed by ALT 3/4 - nothing to do with channel 7/8 because I'm not plugged into there anymore. Koolio!

Just one other thing tho'......when I enable the track on cubase (which happens) I go to put down a vox track but on playback there is just a flat line in the audio box on the screen and I can't hear anything which ye, means no signal. What do I do for this?

And (mic through channel 1 on the desk) the mute button is on here. I can hear myself from the mic through the headphones but if I press the solo button too, I can hear myself heaps better, louder, clearer. What's with this little button then?

How do I hear back what I've recorded through the phones and record a vox track at the same time with no interference? And actually get to hear the pre rcorded track? If I press the solo button it allows me to hear more and better but at the same time time it cancels out playback of the pre recorded track.

?????????
Thank you so much for your help.
Nassa
