Sonar 3 delivery delayed for Europe

Edirol is the European distributor. They have removed the 6 October shipping date from their site, so I mailed them today, hoping Sonar 3 was one the way. Just to let the rest of you waiting Europeans know, they replied something like this:

Sonar 3 is not shipping yet . This comes from the simple reason that they don't have the stock yet.

They expect to receive it at the end of next week/within the next 10 days, and they will be shipping out to us as soon as they possibly can.

NOTICE: I had to edit away the original answer from Edirol I posted here. I found a statement at the bottom of the email saying it was illegal to distribute their reply. So I take no chances. Wouldn't risk them putting me at the end of the list when finally distributing or some other retaliation.

Thanks for the tip.
Have you thought of getting it from the current UK distributer?
www.etcetera.co.uk
They have always given the later date. I believe their postage rates to Europe are lower.

Yes, I thought about Etcetera. Particularly, because they delivered Sonar 2 to me. I asked them about delivery, and they couldn't answer immediately. So I ordered from Edirol as they had been declared the sole European distributor by Cakewalk.

Damn it!

You know what that means? That it will be even longer before it hits Norway.

Another mail today without the passage about not being allowed to quote says:

Dear Tom,
Unfortunately, the first shipment did not arrive on the 6th as expected but will be delayed until next week. Preordered packages are likely to ship at the end of next week. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your patience. Kind regards, Tiia Hassinen Edirol (Europe) Ltd

Well the Aussie Distributor said that it would be in the second week of October... they class the second week as next week... My wife call up yesterday and they are now expecting it in the third week!

I was hoping to get the program by the weekend so I could read the manual on a 3 hour drive my wife is doing. Oh well.... I don't know how much longer I can take hearing you guys talk about it... I might have to create some music using Sonar 2 instead of browsing the forums

If you are going past North Ryde, you can borrow my manual for the weekend if you like....

Drop me a PM if you want to organise it.

Ciao,

Considering the heading about European delivery of Sonar, it is quite fun you Australians turn up here.

Anyway, the Danish crown prince got engaged to an Australian girl yesterday. So maybe you are part of us after all?

Qwerty,

Thanks for the offer but I might pass this time. Once this is all up we can hold the first Aussie Jam Fest!!.. there are a few of us Sydney/close to Sydney guys on the board now..

tombuur,

The reason I bought up Australia is that we are feeling the same way as you..... well at least the people who orded it through a local distributor

So they didn't ship October 6, but said they expected to ship by the end of this week. Now it is Friday, end of second week in other words. Edirol Europe's server is down, so I can't even check what is going on. Just hope the reason for their server being down is they were bombed with a load of Sonar 3.

Okay, so I am impatient. I mailed Edirol Europe again this morning. Got a reply back: They start shipping today. Also, if I read them right, I won't have to pay for shipping. So sometimes it pays to be a nagging customer.

Suits me fine. At the end of next week I will start a one week autumn holiday which I will spend playing with Sonar 3, guitars and other equipment. All on my own (wife is working).

You Danish lucky bastard!

I'm guessing it's still a month untill I see it in Norway. What's the price in Denmark? Maybe I should fly over and get a package...

Well, here is my order comfirmation:

You have ordered the following item(s):

SONAR 3 Producer Upgrade Sonar 2 XL Qty: 1

Total (Freight and Tax included): EURO 250,15

But perhaps that will be lower if they subtract Freight now. That's from Edirol.co.uk. But as a Norwegian you would have to pay customs too, I guess, since your not in the EU. But don't feel tempted to join for that reason, I have always admired you Norwegians for staying out of this bureaucratic organization.

That's good! You know the full price (Norway has no upgrade path)?

Then buy from England. They will probably sell without sales tax (moms). Norwegian authorities will then add a few % customs to the total price (including freight) + sales tax on top of the total. You won't pay much more than me, because my price in inclussive of 25% sales tax (larger EU companies have to add that when selling to me).

You can also order from US, but freight will be more and since you have to pay taxes on freight too, it will all end up costing at least as much, and then perhaps you have to wait 8 weeks for shipping, unless you pay more for airmail etc.

Just logged in as a Norwegian. Here is what they will charge you:

Euro 222,89

for an upgrade from Sonar 2XL
with freight, but no sales tax included. So probably add about 30% for customs and Norwegian moms.

You can also try etcetera.co.uk and see if you can get an even better price there. That's where I got my 2XL from. I think they are cheaper. But I was given the false impression that Edirol had exlcussive European rights, so I ordered from them.

Wow! That's not bad!

Well, we just have to wait and see what the price will be in Norway. The Norwegian Custom can make anyhing expensive...

Haugesund. Great! I spent my winter holiday there working in your hospital. My wife and kids went skiing, but I worked. Much more fun than skiing. Not to mention the Custom Shop Stratocaster I bought for the money earned.

Got it!

Had to redirect mail delivery to my work. So here it is. The manual has an ugly dark green color, but as long as the interface is bluish or gray, I will be happy. It will take another two days before I have time to take a closer look at Sonar 3. Too busy at the moment. But all of next week is my Autumn holiday which I intend to spend making music.
