how do you know where to posistion everything?

okay, ive been reading through the SAE site and this message board. And Im just not sure I understand how you know where to posistion your slat resonators and bass traps in a live or control room.

Do people build their walls as slat resonators and curve them so that the entire wall would have look like this: http://homerecording.com/bbs/attachm...?postid=834691
... except curved... and covering the entire wall..

or am i just totaly confused.
