V160 Help!!

A friend of mine loaned me a V160 Fostex to record a concert the other night. I have never used one before but after reading some of the manual I was able to figure out how to record the music.

I connected 2 mics to the balanced #7 & #8 channels and just recorded directly in letting the machine run for the full time of the concert.

Later I plugged in a set of headphones and hit play and did hear it, so yahoo, I beieve I recorded it all ok.

But now I am lost in this manual trying to figure out several things.

1.) Is there a way to have the 160 tell me how long the total recording is?

2.) If it is longer than what a cd can hold what is the best way to get this to a cd?

3.) How can I get the tracks into my computer? Can I get them in as individual tracks?

I am afraid to do anything that I am not sure of as I don't want to erase what I have.

I can help with a few things...

First of all it will be very hard to erase anything, unless you select the program and specifically delete it...

The machine can be turned on and off like a tape machine, and nothing will be lost. Just down power off while executing an operation...

I assume you know the name or program number, so select it. Then I believe if you hit the STOP and FF buttons together you'll be taken to the program's end. Check in the display and you should have the track timing listed.

I own the VF80, but I think what I've said is accurate. Others on this board can answer everything as they come on...

I am no VF160 master because I've only had it for a short while but, what billisa said was right.

I am guessing your VF doesn't have the built in cd burner? If it does just use that, otherwise after you get it onto the computer burn it from there.

I honestly don't know how to get it onto the computer because iIdon't use my computer in the process but, to my knowledge you need some sort of adapter..... but I really don;t know so don't quote me on that.

Thanks everyone for your help. I finally figured it out. Using the following:

Save PGM
IDE
BkUP
WAV
Clipboard Export Off or On
Source PGM Select to select Program to be saved.
Save Track Selection---All Tracks
Desstin(nation) WAV Select to select Wave file name if you want to change from the Program Name.

It was on the Fostex board and it worked perfectly. Fortunately for me the program was only 11/2 hours long so I eneded up with 2 tracks each 480 MB so I burned them onto 2 seperate tracks.
