Fostex MR-8 USB port

I wonder why they didn't write the firmware so you could record direct to your harddrive via the usb port, or take control of an external program like cakewalk from the MR-8 console?

Anyone know what the Fostex company has in mind for future upgrades?

Seems like there is alot of power here waiting to be unleashed.

I am assuming they didn't offer such feature because they wanted to keep the price for the end-user somewhere near $300.00.

I believe the MR8 is based on USB 1.1, Not sure the data rate for that is higher enough to handle 8 digital tracks.
