Transferring tracks from ADAT to MR-8 or PC

This Sunday a guy volunteered to record my group live on his 8 track ADAT. If at all possible I want to get the tracks on my PC. But, the ADAT does not have a out that is compatible with an in on my PC. I have two questions about this. 1) I was thinking about loading the tracks on my MR-8 and then going, via USB, to my pc. But, the only way to go this route is to go 1/4" from the ADAT to the MR-8 and I don't know if this would hurt the quality? 2) Should I just forget about trying to get these tracks on my pc and just mix the old fashioned way?

This thread may belong on another board, but the Fostex forum feels like home to me. By the way the ADAT is an Alesis.

Is this something you think you'll be doing a lot of?
If it is, I suggest getting a simple audio card with ADAT i/o. For just under $200, you can get the Terratec EWS88D. If you're using Win98, you can get the Korg 1212 I/O for less than $100.

This will probably be a one time thing. I noticed a plug on my pc that looks similar to a printer plug-in, but longer. Could this be a input to use for the ADAT?

Keith,
MR8 has a light pipe in the back, it's been a while since I did any reading on it, but isn't that supposed to be for that kind of thing?

This is the first thing I thought of, but the light pipe jack is an out and I need an in. I'm thinking that I might just record the tracks one by one onto the MR-8 with a 1/4" or XLR plug. I record the CD soundtracks that I have on it and lose little quality.
