Wink

What is the version # of DMT8 software? I am using ver. 2.0

Does anyone know which HD's are authorized for use with the DMT8?

Thanks,

Josef

AS FAR AS I KNOW VERSION 2 SOFTWARE IS THE LAST
VERSION FOSTEX DID FOR THE DMT-8

DID YOU EVER FIND OUT WHAT HARDISKS ARE SUITABLE
AS REPLACEMENTS FOR THE ORIGINAL. I WOULD LIKE
TO CHANGE THE ORIGINAL DISK FOR ONE WITH LONGER
RECORDING TIME. ONLY SOME WILL WORK. PLEASE LET ME
KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY DETAILS.

CHANGING THE HARDISK ON THE DMT-8 IS DIFFICULT BUT
CAN BE DONE ACCORDING TO A WEB ARTICLE I READ.

IN THE UK FOSTEX WILL DO THIS FOR YOU. MINIMUM COST
IS APPROX $250 BUT CAN BE HIGHER DEPENDING ON HOW
MUCH HARD DISK SPACE YOU NEED. I PHONED THEM IN 2002
AND THEY SAID THEY WERE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY IN
OBTAINING SUITABLE DISKS.

ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Thanks JR#97 for the list if disks. Much appreciated.

The lists mention suitability for DMT8-VL but are they also
suitable for DMT8 ?.

I read somewhere that a DMT8 with original software will only
recognise 512mb disks, but that if the machine is upgraded to
version 2 software it can recognise disks up th 2GB and increase
the recording time to match. However anything larger than 2 GB
will be disregarded.

For example a machine fitted with a 3GB disk will recognise the first 2GB and disregard the last 1GB so there would be no
advantage in fitting anything larger than a 2GB disk as it will
not result in still greater recording time.
