hey choy!

I have been doing lots of research in preparation of buying a computer. All you need to transfer tracks to the computer to the FD8 is a sound card with a s/pdif i/o. You can transfer 2 tracks at a time this way. You might consider a sound card with ADAT i/o as well. Then you can transfer all 8 tracks at a time. Sound cards with this feature are obviously more expensive. See my posting "interfacing fd8 w/ computer" on this board for more info.
