I have a voice processor from Behringer, Virtualizer Pro, which I use for live singing. Every sound engineer I meet wants to kill me when they see me seting it up. Why? Because it has a horible internal noise ( a "shhhhhhh") that anyone can hear on the front speakers in between songs or on a breakdown, so I'd never recommend someone to buy it, unless they are singing only for themselves in their home.
Also I have a behringer mixer which works ok for rehearsals but definately not in a live concert with drums and synthesizers going through it.
All in all, better save the money and wait, then buy something better.

Lightbulb

Some Behringer Gear is good some Behringer gear is not so good
I own the Behringer Bass Vamp Pro Rack mount Preamp/FX processor and the FCB1010 MIDI foot controller and both are good products IMO
now for someone that is really hard on gear the FCB 1010 may not be tough enough to withstand a guy with gorilla moves but under normal operating circumstances it will hold up just fine
now the Behringer Eurodesk mixers I would not touch with a 10 foot pole
they are called throw away mixers in the industry.

Every company makes their fair share of good gear and bad gear, Behringer just happens to be the industry scapegoat.
I also hear that Behringer has some unethical business practices, I dont know that but that is what I have heard through the grape vine but I am sure that they are not the only company that does has un ethical business practices.
However I do know for a fact that they are not as straightforward on their amplifier specs as they should be.
anytime I buy gear I research the product very stringently before making a purchase regardless of the name stamped on the front of the equipment.
Behringer is not nearly as bad as what most people say about the company and for the most part many people who are badmouthing Behringer have never even owned Behringer equipment and are parroting what they have heard from others who have badmouthed Behringer.
that is my take on the subject.

I have a multicom 4 channel compressor I used once and wasn't that impressed. But for the money it was ok. I still have it and want to sell it.

if I was living close by, I'd gladly buy it from you!
I'm running 2 of these (8 ch of cmp/lmtr)...and am impressed.
Paid sweet *uck all for them too!
It's all in the time you spend setting them up!..as with any other gear.

I own a Behringer amp that I reboxed:
http://musicmusicmusic.cn/kx1200pg1.html
It sounds great now that I reboxed it - the original wasn't so good but the wood horn really helped.

I have an all-in-one pa called a PMX2000 here:
http://musicmusicmusic.cn/behringerpa.html
it's noisy on a few channels and if I could do it again I'd buy a Yamaha or Soundcraft... but it actually sounds quite good for small gigs.

Both units are dramatically quieter after the reboxing, partly since I isolated the transformers, which seems to be the major noise culprit in most amps I hear. Plus they are much lighter now.

Overall the Behringer stuff is cheap crap that works. I've never used it in the studio and probably wouldn't.

I also own a Behringer 15" subwoofer that needs reboxed as the MDF sounds terrible, as does the "garbage can" metal grille. The crossover frequency in the sub is nuts - sounds like 80 or 100 Hz, which is way too high because the kick is in the 30 to 40 Hz range so at 80 Hz you're getting the fundemental AND the first harmonic, which is, to me, totally wrong - boomy, not tight.
That being said, I have used it at gigs and it did help move more air.

Awful mixers, but i have their guitar tuner pedal cos it was £12 new! Saved me £60 on a Boss. That means i could break 5 of them and still be even, madness! The DI boxes work for practically no money. I wouldn't bother a comp or a verb or something though, im sure you'd be better off with a plugins.

Thumbs down All new Behringer Mixers are sadly just poorly made and sound god aweful!!!

All new Behringer Mixers are sadly just poorly made and sound god aweful!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The old MX series of Behringer Mixers sound awesome!!! And they are built like tanks, great build quality, along with most of the UB series mixers as well.

But now I had serious stereo phasing problems with a new Behringer mixer I bought model: Eurorack Pro RX1202FX line rack mixer.
Let me tell you the pan controls are pure awefullness!!! When I panned it hard left or hard right the volume and sound quality would drop to a dismal level and it had weird stereo phasing god awful sound problems.

What is wrong with Behringer new mixers quality control? I think now to stay competitively priced, they lower the component quality extremely, and all the meters and everything is out of calibration, the internal amps and every knob is loose and feels and sounds like total crap!!! Forget about getting accurate levels and stereo quality with their new mixers!!!

But however, on the other hand, I own the Behringer MX9000, also a MX802A mixers and the MX1604A mixer, and the build and sound quality is great!!! Right up there with Mackie quality and probably above Mackie. I had problems with several Mackie mixers that was just unacceptable!!!

Now I will never buy another new Behringer piece of garbage gear except their older mixer gear !!!

Behringer you lost me as a continued customer, thank you so much for dissapointing me and everyone around the Globe!!! Greedy Stupid Jerks...........

Behringer's New Product Line is Crapola'

Behringer...meh

Behringer. They are just one of those brands. I admit. I didn't take the time to read all of the previous replies.
They sometimes come out with good products, but the quality is less than desired. The biggest thing is that they aren't serviceable. Sometimes they surprise me with great features, but the quality is kinda...There are lots of great alternatives...

They serve a purpose

Behringer mixers are adequate quality for a lot of live sound applications. They are cheap and they are made cheap. I have a little two channel mixer that I use with a 50 watt amp for small restaurants and home parties. There is always some crossbleed between channels and they can be a bit noisier than more expensive brands, but for a lot of live applications they are okay. I have a Yamaha MG 16/6fx mixing board that I use for larger shows and recording and it is a sweet mixer. But the Behringer Euroracks are okay for people starting out.
I also own a Behringer headphone amp that works fine.

Are you getting the message?

These products are okay for people on a budget that aren't requiring very high quality sound for recording, but for day to day use they are okay. That's what Behringer does. They look at more expensive quality products and they copy them cheap. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes (most times) they don't. But these products have their place. The headphone amp works real good.

Most people are saying Behringer amps are crap, but look at the value -

I bought my Behringer bass amp for cheap. 12" speaker, can get decently loud, not the best bass amp ever, but good since it's just a practice amp.

The next amp up in my price range was a Fender practice amp. More expensive, nasty distortion if you turned it up to compete with the air conditioner. Sounded like crap. Wasn't loud enough. Forget it, I'm buying the Behringer.

Behringer amps are not great, but not total crap and more of a value amp.

I have a couple of Behringer GI 100 Ultra G DI boxes that do the job. The thing that sold me on them is the 4x 12 box sim, as I said, it goes well..... with my Mesa Studio Pre Amp. They also have XLR connections and match up with my PC A/D box well. So what can I say (shrugs)?

Been looking at the Behringer mixers but the price of those things is way cheap and I'm thinking, particularly after reading this Thread and other comments elsewhere on the net, that even a cheap purchase may just end up buying headaches. I want a mixer to be transparent, both soundwise and set up wise. If the mixer starts crackling and popping or drops out channels I don't wanna know about it.

Now looking at Allen and Heath ZED 14 Mixer, which seems favoured here. But interestingly, their ZED series seems to be made in China too.

Ages ago, I saw a clip on You Tube about the factory that Behringer have in China. Impressive complex. And they do seem to look after their people more so, than other places in China do (although the reporter did note that the demographics of the workforce indicated a younger crowd so maybe they have a 'McDonalds' attitude to their people in the factory?).

Their stuff is alright. But, I find they stuff all look identical to other manufacturer's equipment (mackie's stuff). The truth speakers look almost identical to the mackie 824....same with their euromixer line....looks like the mackie line too.

I think behringer needs to come up with their own exterior design on equipment....then they'll be good.

I'm happy with Behringer.
I wonder how many would really know the difference if they couldn't see the brand name.

Actually, I'm not a hater of Behringer products as I stated previously, I own quite a number of their products and they have served me well.
I can easily tell the sound coming from a Behringer Eurorack as opposed to a Mackie, Yamaha, Allen/Heath or a Neve board. There is crossover and it is not as quiet as the more expensive makes. They aren't garbage by any means, but they are not top quality items.
Their products are okay but not great especially on acoustic instruments.

I have a Behringer Xenyx 1204 FX which is an absolutely marvelous mixer.
I have no use for it when recording though. It's a mixer. Doesn't belong in a studio.
I also have a Korg D3200 which is an absolutely marvelous recorder.
I wouldn't use it as a mixer though. It's a recorder. Doesn't belong in a pub.
It's a question of using the right tool for the job.

Their microphones aren't the best but then no condenser under $350 USD is.
Every cheap condenser has its own particular strengths and weaknesses but Behringer seems to take the hits for some reason.
I have their 8 channel AD/DA converter/preamp. It's incredible.

Behri bashing is a sport. I get that but once in a while I just feel the need to lend my support.
Then I'm fine again.
