I have nothing to offer other than delete the drivers and restart. You may also want to try driver updates but I've never tried your gear. Edit: Just remembered. I had a similar problem with Cubase one time. Turned out that one of the pins on the Dongle was bent. May be worth your while to check the plugs on your cable. It is a PCI device, right?

nope. dongle is fine and all the cables are connected pretty solid. I'm probably gonna sell/give away/burn the 001. thought it would be a cheap way to see wether or not I like protools and maybe learn some basics before dropping a grand or more on a 002 or 003 w/8.0. lol. learned my lesson, guess I'll get the new shit.
