Using a Mixer with Alesis IO26

hey guys,

I currently have the Alesis IO26 and run it through Cubase LE4 that came with it on a Vista 32bit/Lenovo.

As much as I love the multi channels and the clean, crisp sound it puts through, and as much as I hate the constant dropouts and freezes in Cubase (probably cubase's fault). I was wondering if I could use my Behringer EuroRack UB2222FX-Pro 16 input mixer along with the interface and run it through 1-2 inputs on the interface. i know it's possible with higher end Interfaces and what is primarily done in studios, but was wondering how well it fares with the IO26.

My mixer has 2 separate sets of outputs on the back. One has 2 outputs that are labeled as "Main Mix Out" While the other set is 2 outputs labeled "Control Room Out". Should I decide to use the mixer with my interface, which set of outputs should I use?

I'm sorta new to the recording process in terms of hardware, so help would be much appreciated.

The main mix out is for your PA Speakers. The Control room out is for your studio monitors. Either one will work...

But will either one put out a better sound quality than the other? Just curious.

I do have a bad habit of doing that don't I? I have to try and cut down on that. Good luck with your connections!
