    M-Audio fast track pro

I recently got a fast track pro for Christmas. Today being my first day off since receiving it I was excited to get it up and running. I went to m-audio's website and downloaded the latest drivers... at least I think I did. Went to install and the screen says that my os does not currently...

    Recording acoustic guitars

So I'm looking at getting a 2 input usb interface to get my hands dirty with computer based recording. I was wondering about mic choice and mic placement for recording acoustic guitar. Here are the mics that I have: MXL 992 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone http://tinyurl.com/yfcm9bs MXL...

an audio interface for the time being

So eventually I want to get either a presonus firestudio or a tascam 1641 to use with a mac mini(with upgraded memory), but I still need to get the memory upgrade, a monitor, a mouse, and speakers to get the mac recording setup up and running. So.... Since I'm itching to get recording I was...

    More on acoustic treatment

So understanding that professional acoustic treatment panels and traps would be the best way to take care of sonic problems... are there other ways that I could treat a room that are less expensive but still fairly effective? I know that a trick for recording guitar amps is to put a heavy...

    yamaha AW-1600

I will definitely try that, thanks! To be honest I didn't like the setup... I'm lazy when comes to these things and there was too steep of a learning curve, especially with the way the menus work. Now that I have more of a drive to record the yamaha is pretty beat up.:(

    yamaha AW-1600

So I haven't mentioned in my other threads that I have one of these because personally I hate it... http://tinyurl.com/yamaha-AW-1600 But while I was going through some old stuff that I recorded I noticed that it has a USB port and I started thinking... Is there a way that I could use the...

    Advice on equipment

So I'm pretty sure which interface that I want (Tascam US-1641). I have several microphones including dynamic and condenser... no ribbons though... yet :p I now know that I need to get some acoustic treatment panels, bass traps being the most important. (Thank you for the responses to my last...

    Acoustic Treatment

I need some help with "acoustic treatments"... well that's the section on sweetwater.com that has all of the foam things that you put on the wall to help with the the acoustics of the room. When people talk about the problems that a space can have they mention things like "slap" and "flutter"...

    another newbie question

I'm sure this question has been asked several times so I apologize for that... How much difference does a mic cable make in sound quality? Is there a big tonal difference between cheap cables, say $10 for a 20 ft, and the cables that run for $150 for a 20 ft? Thanks

    Feelings on microphone brands

So I am quite a newbie... I've been playing guitar for a long time, but I'm just starting to work on recording. I have several dynamic mics, 2 small diaphragm condenser mics and 1 large diaphragm mic. I was thinking about picking up a ribbon mic but the only ones that I can find that are even...

    setting up a home studio

If I go the route of the mac mini then ALL that computer is going to be used for is recording, only if I use my dell laptop will I have to worry about anything else plugged into the USB. So the consensus seems to be... get a better interface and worry about the odds and ends later.

    setting up a home studio

That makes a lot of sense and obviously the better option, but for the sake of budget can you use the mixer and get a decent cut on the drums? Again I'm not looking for this to be professional off the bat, just something better than what they can do in the basement... or am I being delusional? :D

    setting up a home studio

Now in a guitar forum that I frequent one of the other members said that if you're using more than 4 inputs at a time you want to go FireWire instead of USB because of latency. Is there validity to this?

    setting up a home studio

    Zoom MRS-8

I have both the "import audio" and "import raw data" functions in Audacity, both with negative results. The better option was "import raw data" where what I recorded came through, but it sounded like it was being played through an old record player. Is there something that I need to do to the...
