    Green & Gold is good.

From .09 to .10's tremelo adjustment

You can go either way, additional springs or adjusting the screws. As mentioned above, you definitely should adjust your truss rod whenever changing string gauges, especially when such changes require adjustment of your tension screws.

My letter to Roland about my jogwheel software fix. - Did it end up in the trash?

Pardon Monty. He's prone to childishness that sometimes detracts from meaningful discussions. Thanks for your insights into the VS encoders, Boray. Most of the good stuff is usually kept on the VSPlanet.

    Is shred coming back??!!

Ahhh. Tasteful shred! It's like watching Barry Sanders run. Like watching Michael Jordan play basketball. Like seeing Arnold Schwartzenegger in hiis prime. Like going on a speedy rollercoaster ride. Like sex with a porn star. :p MB

Don't take your guitar to a tech

I also prefer performing set up on my guitar myself. It's easy, cheap, and I know it's done the way I want it.

    How often do youchange strings?

Jah. Sometimes I wait too long and think I need a new guitar or a new amp because my current ones sound so bad. Sometimes I actually get a new guitar/amp. Sometimes I change the strings and save myself a bunch-o-cash. :)

    Crush your enemies!

Kick Ass! Those drums are programmed? Awesome job! Great guitar tone! What amp and micing techniques did you use? The Conan references were cool. However, you could try to process them a bit to compensate for different volume levels. E.g., use a compressor.

Anyone have a Finalizer or use multiband compression?

Yeah. It's not too bad so far. However, I can still get a better/more drastic effect by using an analog compressor on the whole mix as opposed to the finalizer. I had worked with the single compressor to where I could dial in excellent punch and loudness to really accentuate a well recorded...

Gear Snob Alert! You Want Good Tone???

There's some truth to that. Then again, I mainly play through a Mesa/Boogie Quad. Each knob on the pre affects different characteristics of the gain stages. While the knobs are labeled bass, mid, etc., they don't just boost the freq's like an EQ. They adjust the frequency characteristics of...

Anyone have a Finalizer or use multiband compression?

Alright. Thanks for the validation. It's good to have a point of reference to start out with. Bruce and darrin, I (generally) tend to stay away from exciters and maximizers. I'm usually not a big fan of the way they color my mix. Sonus, vid-tape your next studio session. It can compete...

Anyone have a Finalizer or use multiband compression?

Hey all, I'm curious about techniques for maximizing punch and loudness in my final mix. No, I don't want to take my mix to a mastering house. I don't give a rat's ass if they can do a better job than I can. Yes, I just want to learn about techniqes through education and experiementing. I...
