I just picked one up, and the thing is hard to figure out. Does anyone know where to download a manuel? I tried just about every angle I can think of. And if you own one, do you like it?

You could run the Sony out to a mixer and pan the mix there. It seems like a hassle though, especially if you are using a mixer before the 4 track. I too have run into this problem, and like all of you, deal because I think the Sony machine is excellent.

Wow, $400 is a good price. I don't think you can find the Sony used for much less than $500. I'm sure the Yamaha would do well.

Does anyone know where/how to get preset cartridges for this synth? The presets on the synth itself blow, and I am not really into searching the wave forms to create sounds. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Sony MDM-X4. I love it. I have a friend who had the Yamaha and liked some of the editting features on it better, but I would recomend the Sony. I did a lot of looking into the two, and overall the Sony seems like a better machine. The EQ's are great, and the preamps are surprising...

Where I work, there is a Dat machine laying around. It had been used to sore information, and has scuzzy outs. My question is, can I use this machine to transfer a Dat with recorded music on it to my 4 track?

Depending on how you route youur mixdown, if you use your send and returns I don't see why you can't get the effect on the mix? I am not familiar with the Tascam recorder, but if you have the Mackie I would run the effects into your insert points(I just asked about this) for the tracks. Run...
