I'm looking to purchase a Fostex E-22. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and I'm willing to pay for proper packing and shipping.

I just picked up a nice condition Fostex Model 20 today. I'm hearing some "crackling" on channel 1 when I playback a recording. Its dynamics/loudness follows the dynamics of the recording --> loud deep electronic kick drums for example. Any ideas on what this may be?

Does anyone know if a technics RS-1500 will fit in a 19" rack? I realize that it does not have rack ears--> i'd put it on a rack shelf.

So is the arm that pops up when entering into fast forward or rewind supposed to lift the tape fully off of the record/repro head? Am I not seeing a lever or switch somewhere that allows it to fully lift the tape off the head?

I'm looking for a good condition 16 track 1/2" tape machine. Tascam or Fostex... Also hoping to find a remote to go with it. thanks in advance, adam PS: I'm in san francisco
