.....thinking of a Studio Projects VTB1 to pre a shure sm7.....I have an Art mpa gold sitting idle, but I like the looks and ease of use of the Studio Projects pre....until now, I've just been using the pre amps built into a Tascam 2400 mk ll, but they are just barely adequate for dynamic...
I just bought an Electro-Voice EV PL95 on ebay, but I know little about it....from what I've read, it seems like it should be a pretty good vocal mic for p.a....I currently use sm-58's with tab funkenwerks transformers....might even be a decent mic for vocal recording...any information or...
.....at a recent musician's co-op concert in greenfield, massachusetts.....someone had a camera running...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gakUtEkKXok
.....just dug deep into the drawer of old microphones and grabbed a pair of Sony electret condenser mics - ecm-22p's....tried a stereo (x,y) set up on acoustic guitar....pretty impressive for a couple of 35 year old, relatively inexpensive mics.....
I've offered to record a song for a local bluegrass group. They are a 4 piece, high energy group and this song will be done on a Tascam 2488 mk ll in my livingroom.....my idea is to record the group live, with all four guys facing each other and with just a lead vocal track - 5 tracks in...
the manual for this machine confuses me.....can an external compressor be connected to the external effects out return through the stereo "ins"?...if so, that wouldn't seem to give a great deal of control during final mix....anyone here used a compressor with the dp01?
I'm about to start a recording project for which I've been writing for just over a year.....it will be done in 16 bit on a dp01 fxcd....I'm using an ART MPA Gold microphone pre amp along with a couple of AKG condensers and a Beyer m-500 vocal mic....the recording will be "folk" and will include...
.....what are the practical and actual differences between 16 and 24 bit recording?.....I'm about to begin an acoustic recording and am using a 16 bit workstation.....will that be adequate, or should I invest in a 24 bit recorder?
I have an old Beyer M-500 ribbon mic that I've had for over 30 years.....I was told last night that using it with a mixer's phantom power turned on could damage it....having done that exact thing several times, I wonder how I might test it to see if it's "intact".....
I'm looking for a good (quiet) mixing board and have noticed the Peavey pv14 usb model....planning to use its preamps in some recording and its high impedance inputs to digitize a bunch of old 4 track analog recordings, done years ago on a Teac 3340s...anyone here have experience with this model?
after a lot of experimenting with a pair of sony ecm-22p's and a pair of behringer mic 200 preamps, I've been able to get a wonderful acoustic guitar sound with the preamps set on "valve"......other settings on the behringer are named electric guitar, vocal, acoustic guitar, piano, etc......what...
I just picked up a pair of Sony c 22 fet condenser mics.....anyone know anything about them?....I believe that they are "battery only" and won't work with phantom power, but I haven't yet tested that....seems that they might be a good acoustic guitar pair.....although I'm pretty fond of ecm...
Thinking of a pair of these mics for acoustic guitar....currently using an AKG Perception 200 and a Sony ECM 22p for recording the acoustic in stereo....anyone tried these new AKG's?
