Pro tools will currently not "see" more than 4GB RAM as it has not been ported to 64bit addressing. That being said, Kontakt 4-5, some Spectrasonics apps, Vienna Ensemble Pro and some others, will run as separate processes outside the 4GB PT limitation, making additional RAM relevant.
As was...
PT 9.0.5 is a beta release, which is compatible with OS X, Lion. Be aware that it is a public beta and there some issues with it. First thing to do is makes sure that; "Minimize Additional I/O Latency" is NOT selected in "Setup -> Playback Engine". This will create distortion on audio tracks...
This mic, designed and sold in Canada, is one of my go to pieces for vocals;
HM-7U - Kel Audio Microphones
I like it for what it doesn't have, over accentuated highs.
They have a 30 day return, no questions asked policy.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
Well after 2 weeks of demoing different monitors the decision came down to KRK VXT4s and Focal CMS40s. In a blind test, in the room, surprising me especially. The KRK's won out.
Oh I still take the mixes out to the car and listen in a system that has way...
Thanks for replying. Yes, treating the room was the first thing I did before moving any gear in, been tweaking it ever since. Unfortunately it's a small square room, with baffles, bass traps, etc... I'm still not hearing what I feel I need to. Using rear ported speakers so close to the wall...
Although I have been able to get "acceptable" mixes from my very small, square space. It's really difficult and a long process, because as much as I try, I can never get it quite sounding right until I get the mixes out of the room and played a) in the car b) stereo in a bigger room c) ANYWHERE...
I have put the PSP Vintage Warmer across the master bus to create a demo mix and have found it quite tasteful if (as the previous poster stated) it is used in moderation, however out of the number of PSP plug-ins I have, for this purpose I actually find Xenon to be more useful and as you already...
If your sound card is ASIO compliant then you do not need an M-Audio or Avid interface to run Pro Tools 9 (9 only, all previous versions required an M-Audio or Avid/Digi interface depending on what you are running). Pro Tools 9 does require an iLok dongle for licensing.
Recent (within 10 years): Hourglass: James Taylor

For the hell of it: Killer, Alice Cooper… I just had to…

In PT, in the edit window right click on the track information (like where the track name is, solo, mute, etc...) and select Export MIDI. Put it in [MACintosh HD]\Library\Application Support\EZ Drummer\MIDI\My MIDI\<whatever you name it>
In EZPlayer you will find it under My MIDI, which you can...
Do you use EZ Player Pro? You cam merge multiple tracks in it.
Otherwise drag to another midi track, copy it and edit > paste special > merge to the track with MIDI data already on it.
Start with an instrument track in "notes" view.
Highlight the bit you want , press the "play" button and control (on a MAC) you should see the loop play graphic on the play button. Press play... (not record) and start penciling in dots on the instrument track. That's the way I do it.
Digidesign certifies hard drive enclosures using Oxford 912 or 924 chipsets in them. You may want to enquire as to what chipset these enclosures are using.
Additionally, buying a new MAC from a reseller (not sure where you purchased yours) you may find that they upgrade to the latest version of OS X. However they may have upgraded through the software upgrade and not the combo update. This is problematic for MACs. The first thing I have done for my...
Hope things are progressing for you.
Not sure what wavemapper is... not as versed in Windows as MAC technology apparently.
The 'disk' I was referring to is the recording/playback drive you would be using for audio recording. It is a generally accepted rule that a separate audio (separate from...
Plugins in general should handle their own placement through their installation programs. Initially run the installers and pick the defaults.
As for turning spotlight indexing off for your external audio playback/recording drive you need to add it to a 'private" list;
To add a drive to the...
First off make sure you have the latest EZDrummer by downloading the last update from your user account.
How are you trying to use it in PT8? The easiest way is to create a STEREO instrument track and use it as an insert.
Put the plug in on an instrument track, arm the track to record and hit record on the transport. This will record the midi events on the instrument track. When you hit play on the transport after you finish recording, the midi note/controls will trigger whatever instrument you have inserted on...
Another consideration is your processing power, I/O and hard disk configuration. 48 audio tracks, most likely routing to a number of aux stems, loaded with plug-ins is going to take a lot of processing power. What host are you running on?
