    Advice on mix

Thank you so much! Such reinforcement makes me wanna do more :) WHen I look at wave form of the song, I see that sax, trumpets, etc generate a very lod spikes. IS this a normal thing? Or I need to to level it out a bit with compressor? Is this a common thing or dynamic range is important in...

    Advice on mix

Rob, Thank you so much for such a thorough and very constructive response! You are absolutely right: one can't do it right out of the box. I do not know a lot of things :) but thanks to you, I've picked up quite a few useful tips. Here is the tweaked version in light of your comments. I...

    Advice on mix

Do you mean overal or on something specific? Actually, I gave it a listen again, and I think I agree with you. The woman sounds somewhat brighter than the music. Even tohugh I gave a little boost, think it needs more :) Will post the "fixed" version :)

    Advice on mix

Again, I did not record them. Sounds like a live band. and it is not AI ... I have all the live tracks and I can hear band leak on the vocal track. It was a live recording

    Advice on mix

wow. thanks I wasn't the one to record them.... I only mixed them. I do not know where they recorded. It was a project that I downloaded so I was able to practice :) there is not much I can add... there is this site where you can download multitrack projects so you can practice. That is...

    Advice on mix

Hi everyone I wanted to try to mix everything myself instead of using a completed mix. So here it is. I mixed all the instruments and vocals together and wanted to hear your opinion..... What do you think? Too crappy? :). Thanks a lot in advance! :)

    let me see your studio!

WOW I looked some studios and it is absolutely wonderful :) I live in the apt building, and there is not much I may do here... However, for my needs (voiceover mostly, radio production and sometimes recording vocals) my setup works. I am not completely happy with the way all this stuff is...

    Fixing booth sound

As a voiceover person, yes. As dead as possible. WET can be added later if needed. and in headphones it sounds great :) My ears still hear the boominess when I step away from mic. the farther I get, the more low resonance I hear. That is probably impossible to remove without...

    Fixing booth sound

Hi :) Thank you Rob! here you can take a listen what it sounds like after processing. So, basically, my treatment of the booth was not for nothing you're saying? :)

    Fixing booth sound

Hey everyone. I hope I am writing in the right place. I have a whisperroom booth that I use for singing and voiceover. At first I used foam that came with it and foam bass traps. Them, I upgraded it (so I thought :)) I got broad spectrum 24x24 5 pannels and 2 Acoustimac DMD-BT4000 Bass Traps...

Music too loud or too quiet

As usual KRK VXT6 monitors. Almost always use them. Very rarely do I use my semi open beyerdynamic cans. I always have AC on, tomorrow will try to shut it off, perhaps it was masking something... OR maybe I did something wrong - I don't exclude that. I did not catch what software the guy...

Music too loud or too quiet

Oh, thanks! Great tutorial! only, I tried what he did, and I really do not hear any difference... I am deaf to such subtle nuances probably :( bummer.

Music too loud or too quiet

Well, I understand what you are saying. I don't blindly trust what I'am seeing, so ultimately, I do go by my ear, of course. :)

Music too loud or too quiet

Yes, we just recorded the vocal, and no, unfortunately; the life would've been so much easier if we had the melody as a multitrack version :). I wish I could be of more help.

Music too loud or too quiet

Oh, perhaps you are right. only used it in certain spots that were very loud. If I used just volume, i think if would have been too obvious. :). By the way, perhaps you could educate me as far as seating a vocal track into an instrumental track. Usually I compare the graphs of music and...

Music too loud or too quiet

whew, I am glad you were playing :). It is never my intensions to hurt anyone's feelings :) Your retroish is a bit extreme :) Sometimes I do go that far... I usually use Vinyl by Izotop and such for this kind of retro :) I was rather talking 60's. ELLA like quality... I tried, here...

Music too loud or too quiet

I just wanted to clarify that we recorded the vocal to already produced and finished instrumental track (no vocal). I will try :) thanks for the suggestion, Rob :)

Music too loud or too quiet

HM... I am not sure what made you think this way really :) I mentioned in my post that this is just an instrumental file. :) but that is ok. I learned a few things from this dialogue. I want to try to make this track sound old now retroish. Will try to figure this out on my own first :)

Music too loud or too quiet

This song is slow and everything changes slowly, so the automation worked great. I can't even hear when it does. But the voice is not struggling at getting through the music I thanked him for reminding me of automation :) But I am greatful to every single person who replied to my post...
