I started messing around with Kristal... and the sound coming through it is awful (as compared to Audacity). It is very poppy. What's going on? Could there be a setting wrong? I don't think it is hardware, because things run great in Audacity.
Thanks
Won't the mixer be able to do the same thing though? I thought all I needed was phantom power? Is all phantom power not created equal?
Thanks for all the help guys.
Thanks... I was thinking phantam power, but I want to be sure before I spend money on it when it is no good. It seems to be a great mic (I was reading reviews). I'll have to look into it. I think I may have a friend that has some recording stuff, maybe I can ask if I can test the mic out on his...
I was given this microphone, used, from a guy that basically said he had no use for it anymore. I just tried using it through my computer, and it doesn't seem to be picking up anything. I'm new at this, so maybe there is an obvious reason? I have used other mics without a preamp on my computer...
Does anyone know if this (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/s=specials/search/detail/base_pid/273156/) is a good quality condenser? It is cheap, but the list price is similar to those surfmaster posted.
Thanks.
I've been reading up on recording the past few days and decided to see just how poor my setup would sound. I have a Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz computer with 512 mb of RAM, a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, a Schriber Acoustic SA-568 microphone (it came with my Dad's video camera), an obscure...
This is basically it?
1. You write a beautiful song that needs to be heard (haha, yeah right  )
2. You play the song and record it onto a multi-track recorder or onto a computer
3. You mix the tracks together on the computer using some sort of software (or on the mult-track recorder...
I don't have any recording tips for you, because I'm just starting to look into it as well, but I like the song. My only advice would be to make the vocals louder, but it sounds pretty good considering that PC mic you are using.
