Hello.
I just bought a DAT machine, and I want to connect it to my soundcard. The ting is that my Digital in/out on the soundcard is a phono plug, and the Digital in/out on my DAT is XLR or optical.
How do I connect this, and what cables do I need?
Hello,
I`m mixing a rock song, with lots of guitars, and I want the drums
to sound sharp and heavy.
Anybody got some compression/effect tips on how to achive this?
Hello,
I try to put together a homestudio, and everybody tell me I need a DAT machine. I`m new to homerecording, so can anybody please tell me why I need a DAT?
Thanks for listening.
I have no idea of where that "fffffffff" comes
from. It`s not on the cd or wav file...
When I play it, it`s at the end too.
Thanks for your time!!
Frankie
Hmmm
Very interesting.
The mix is brilliant!!
Only thing that comes to my mind, is that perhaps
the reverb on the lead vocal is a little too much.
Then again I could be fooled by the MP3 file (lo-fi)
Jolly Good.

good song. (if I dare say so myself ;) )

A couple of weeks ago, I was asking a lot of questions
in the newbie section, as a was new to homerecording.
No I finally got my first song ready, and its located at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/158/l_e_v_i.html
I would really appreciate if someone would listen and give me some feedback.

About a year ago I found a cool site on the net wich showed where the different instruments should sit in a mix, so they're not stepping on each other. It explained the frequencies of each instrument and how to use the EQ to get it right where it should be. Problem is I've lost the site and...
Hello.
Try out "The Mix" It covers a lot of
recording tips with a help file, and also a
cd with demos and samples for you to use.
Works for me :)

Hi there Green Hornet.
recording the bass on a seperate track seems like a good idea. I'll try it!
Do you use much compressor on the bass?
If so, how much ratio?
Frankie
Maybe this questions have been covered before
but here's the thing;
The bass always seem to take up a lot of space in the mix. The music style I do is mainly pop, so I want it in there doing what it should, but not take all the space. So what is the thing to do here?? A lot of compression or EQ...
Ok I see. I just changed from jacks to XLR
and tried the balanced output, and it sounds better (at least that's what I like to think.. ;)) I use really short cables so I quess it's not a big deal anyway. Thanks for helping me sorting it out!!
Frankie
So, I got this question for you pros.
I got balanced cabels from my speakers to the amp. And balanced from the amp to my mixer, but then I realized that my mixer's
balanced output is XLR and not jack...,so for now I'm using the unbalanced output. Does this make a lot of difference??? What is...
I have tied to update ma Cubase version 3.5 VST (Producer Pac)with the download from Steinberg homepage. But when i try to install it it comes up with a error message
"wrong ID number" I've e-mailed Steinberg about it, but haven't got a reply. Can anybody help?
Frankie
Thanks for the help.
I think I'll go for absolute zero.
I also buy a Servo 170 Power amp 2x85 Watts
for the speakers. It looks like this is a good deal. I got a rather small home studio and it will be interesting to find out what it sounds like. I'll keep you posted. :)
