the guy who put the computer together for me set up the hardware, an audiophile 24/96 the best way he thought for the motherboard, hard drive and ram we could afford to put into it. I've SEEN it work. it HAS worked. but it's been awhile since any musucian computer buddies have been over. I feel...

from the newbie thread, or forum: Hi. I'm Billy. I'm not exactly a newbie, but shall we say, a really slow learner? I have a fairly old computer, but it's adequate. the guy who put it together for me suggested not going on the net for fear of bugaboos. so I haven't. it has no card to hook up...

I'm wanting to create my OWN drum parts ...

thanks for the help dinty! I hate drum loops. it's silly to me. I am very new to the digital computer recording world. I used to do a lot of stuff in studios for people. nothing all that grandiose. demos, commercials blah blah in the good old analog days. also I have fiddled about with 4...

thanks everyone thanks for the link dinty. will give it a listen. you are right. cymbals are still not groovy. I honestly cannot find anything about drums in my manual. it's not a great manual, in my opinion. maybe they need to make it available in large print :)

level meters. NOT! yeah, boulder sound guy said that too. I agree with you guys. my 'home studio' is so caveman it's amazing I have done anything. playing live and hearing everything live is different. I never really have an issue with my own sound or levels. I'm the first one to get...

    'Normalizing' individual tracks in cubase

just a wild guess here Clivus the model you have is no longer in production right? I'll see if I can find that rascal :) the old gsp21pro set the benchmasrk for 'over the bloody top' but the stuff CAN be dialed back. a lot of it is crummy. but some is ok. is that all I look for is Micro Cube?

    'Normalizing' individual tracks in cubase

ok boulder sound guy I'm diggin this discussion by the way. so much brain work for me to do after all the years of just practicing chops and all that. being able to control what one plays (within reason) either live or live in the studio so to speak sounds like the best plan. you spoke of...

    'Normalizing' individual tracks in cubase

clivus, if that stuff sounds cool, then cool! high tech is our friend except when it isn't. my stuff has never done what I want it to, which is to sound good right out of the box :) tweaking modelers and processors is in itself an art form, which all players (like me) aint got or don't have...

    'Normalizing' individual tracks in cubase

abuse the muses eh? I like that name! ok, I have several amps. many now are in my own personal museum. my all purpose amp is a really old randall with a cool sounding pre gain post gain feature and a lot of knobs for EQ. 4 I think. a lot of times there's bass & treble. neat old amp. and I use...

    'Normalizing' individual tracks in cubase

Thanks Jim Lad I do try to be polite. I'm good at a lot of stuff, but in a general sense, I have been rightfully humbled by the world enough times to lose my arrogance. nothing worse than a cocky guy who is always full of it. the irony of that is just inescapable :) plenty of them still...
