Humbuckers- highs lost from the volume pot. Should I hack this 355' some more?

That's only true for a pot thats set up to completely short to the hot of the output when turned all the way up. Normally when the volume is all the way up the resistance to the ground is the same as the resistance to the hot if the volume was all the way down. This means with the volume all...

Humbuckers- highs lost from the volume pot. Should I hack this 355' some more?

You actually don't have to go active at all, theres a way of wiring the pots so that you don't get the treble bleed through the pot. I'll see if I can pull up a schematic or something, while I do that see if you can find something by doing a search in the Seymour Duncan forums which has a ton of...

    KOA fender Strat?

Koa refers to a finish that looks like that wood, I believe Limba is the actual wood being referred to. This leads me to believe theres no real Limba on that guitar at all, just a mark up because of the association with that name.

    Has Anyone Ever Made

I wasn't saying that 1 meg is a bypass, I'm saying its going to be brighter than a 500 k pot, but since most people find 1 meg too bright, therefore a full bypass would definitely be too bright for most people. That was my point.

    Has Anyone Ever Made

The only benefit of not having a volume knob would be that you wouldn't get treble bleed through the pot. However if that was really an issue and you tele' folk want to make your guitars so bright that they make your ears bleed you could always just use a higher resistance pot. Guitar makes...

why the Gibson LP supreme is chambered?

Supremes actually aren't chambered in the way that a Standard is. The Standard has round holes drilled in to the mahogany about 1.5" in diameter or so. The Supremes chambers are huge, almost like a semi hollow, I'll go look for a picture to show the chambers.

Pros vs. Cons on Gibson SG supremes??

FYI its the same headstock joint as on Les Pauls. If you've got heavy fretting hands though its not the headstock joint you should be worried about, SGs already have a weak neck joint, and the supremes and 61 RIs have the neck joint at a higher fret. So if you tend to pull or push on the neck...

    Metal Tone

I have a Mesa combo that's definitely a metal amp that runs on el84's. However, el84 amps tend to be lower wattage, so if by metal amp you mean a huge 100 watt stack then I wouldn't say they'd cut it. Since you said metal tone then I definitely say they can get the tone, Preamp is more important...

    ibanez theory....

I'm guessing you don't like any cheap guitars then. You're completely right that the wood is horrible, but it's no worse than any other guitars in that price range and atleast the build quality is there. All cheap guitars kind of have that bland tone like you said, not a strat not a paul...

    Bill Lawrence pickups and controversy

The ones that you buy through Stew Mac are the bad ones. The ones you buy direct off the company website are the real deal. I've read about this many times in the past, so far the verdict of the people who have tried them both is very clear in that regards. The pickup that Dimebag used and the...

    New pickups

Go with the Dimarzio Air Classic or PAF if you want a creme pickup thats easily available. If you really want a really true PAF type sound go with a Seymour Duncan 59, order a shop floor custom (no more expensive than a regular nickel covered 59', you will have to wait though). If the guitar is...

    where DO those picks go???

In winnipeg we have long winters, about 7 months of the year the ground is covered in snow, this past spring I found one of my picks in my backyard. In an unrelated matter I bought a bag of those Ultex picks which are really nice, kind of like Tortex but with a better grip, and everyone stole...

    New pickups

FYI you can get Seymour Duncan pickups in creme just order them as a shop floor custom (not custom shop) under a nickel or gold cover and then just take the cover off yourself. The upside is they can keep the price low instead of paying money to Dimarzio who's idea of colour as a trademark is...

Top 10 guitar riffs and licks.

    ibanez theory....

I can agree with the hardware when referring to the cheaper models, however the bridges on the prestige models are some of the best floyd rose type you can get. Since when has the paint job been easy to crack or scratch? It's polyurethane, which by nature is way harder than nitrocellulose thats...

    ibanez theory....

Perfectly put, and never more true than with the Artcore series. The artcores are ridiculously consistent, never outstanding either way, which is really why they're perfect for beginners, because you don't have to know a lot about guitar to pick out a good one. They're also perfect for people...
