    Stratocaster Wiring

Don't understand what that means. That is my understanding on how it should be done, This would give me tone control for the bridge humbucker in position 1. It also gives me the same stock tone control for the middle single coil in position 3, Though, as someone pointed out, in position 2...

    Stratocaster Wiring

Nothing at all. I want to have a tone control solely for the bridge pickup in position 1. It irks me to no end that I have no control over the bridge pup tone. I know, position 2 and 4 is where everyone plays, Not me. I want tone control on the bridge pup.

    Stratocaster Wiring

I am about to update my 2004 HSS Strat with Seymour Duncans. SSL1 in the neck, SSL 5 RWRP in the middle, and a Custom humbucker in the bridge, I want to have tone control for the bridge pup. The attached wiring diagram shows me how to do it, I've tried it with little success, Anyone have any...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Most of those BIG Marshall stacks, SVTs and what not you see on stage? Nah. Somewhere in the back it a Twin Reverb, and an Ampeg B15 with mics.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Got one! Early 80s from Japan. I would be hard pressed to pick another "all around" on stage amp. Used it for my Rhodes. Used it for my bass. Use it for my edrums. Maybe I should jam out on the porch with that? They would definitely find me then.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I'm sorry, but that is totally incorrect. Properly terminated or not, a voltage across a primary winding of a transformer, wrapped around a common core, induces a voltage on the secondary, that is directly proportional to the ratio of the primary winding to the secondary winding. How can it...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I really don't want to start an argument, I really don't. Firstly, what do you mean by "physical description" ? Fit, form, and function? Secondly, how would someone go about measuring the "inductance" of a transformer i.e. inductor?

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I may be taking some liberties here, but here's a thought. In America, (and I can't speak for Europe) the only thing that is truly reliable is the frequency, i.e. 60Hz. We, as a rule, always designed (and tested) power supplies to perform reliably at input voltages of 120V +/- 10%. We all know...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I don't disagree, further, that was exactly my point. Good, efficient design will always suffer to make way for saving a penny.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Sorry if I don't see it as a flaw. I would be more inclined to think that Marshall made amps for the European market and amps for export. Seeing as that most of the world uses 220V, and the American market is way smaller, it would make economic sense to use torroids for cost reduction. (Based...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Without going into the design choices that Marshall chose, I will just refer back to the schematic that was posted It could not be any more obvious that Marshall chose a torroid. Marshall Exemplar Input Transformer I've dropped in a link FOR REFERENCE showing that 115V transformers are...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

No troubles. We all know what to do given any certain device. No offense taken. And, thank you for your service.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

To confuse you even more, both traditional transformers and torroids are nothing but inductors. In a traditional transformer, a voltage is applied to the "primary" winding. The primary winding is isolated from the "secondary" winding by an iron core. The voltage applied to the primary winding...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

According to the schematic provided by drtechno, the transformer is a torroid. Hence, unlike "traditional" transformers, there is no "secondary" winding from which to tap off of. Marshall did this because torroids are way more efficient than a traditional transformers and run very much cooler...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

OK. Just wanted to know what you considered a "real tech". I've worked in electronics for over 30 years. Some of the largest companies you've ever heard of: Defense, aircraft, space, photography, CGI, analog and digital test equipment design, R&D. Glad to know I don't qualify as a "real...

And just how would you define a "real tech"? Asking for a friend.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

as much as I appreciate it, I think I'm good. It works for me in my setting. 12VDC is about as high I'll go theses days. Besides, I don't want my wife having to sweep up my ashes on the basement floor. She would be soooo pissed.
