My 13 yo daughter wrote an original tune “Reaching for the Moon” - check it out yo

Oh wow, such kind words. So glad you liked it! It was so fun to see her so excited to make it! She’s sitting at the piano right now working on the next tune :)

My 13 yo daughter wrote an original tune “Reaching for the Moon” - check it out yo

I had that same thought about the rhythm guitars. I didn’t think the bass was very bright, but I’ll take a look. I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks, she’s having such a great time making music…and so fun to collaborate with her and teach her about song writing/recording! Really fun!

Imitation Road - Song / Mix critique

Cool, I liked the subject matter. Well executed. Very digital feel which I think is the point! Only critique would be to cut some low-mid mud to make things a little clearer and let it breathe if that makes sense. Enjoyed it, nice work!

“29 (Longest February)” - New original tune - Alternate Rock/Old School Soft Punk

That’s funny, I looked up 29 and there are several meanings out there I’d never heard of. In fact, I didn’t know it had any meaning other than, well a number. Fortunately nothing too crazy! Not sure which you’re alluding to! One was “a moderator might be watching”. My favorite was: 2.9 is less...

“29 (Longest February)” - New original tune - Alternate Rock/Old School Soft Punk

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I also thought it was a bit awkward, I tried a couple other things and thought “oh well” and went with it! The drum machine at the beginning was just there to record my scratch tracks…to later record real drums over. Then I got so used to it being there...

“29 (Longest February)” - New original tune - Alternate Rock/Old School Soft Punk

Hey HR folks! I wrote these lyrics in the depths of winter… 29 (Longest February)…’cause leap year made winter EVEN LONGER this year, get it?! Ok, yeah! Anyways… I just got a chance to write and record the music yesterday. It’s the old “long winter, moving into spring” motif. Some familiar...

I Saw the Light (Hank Williams Cover)

I really enjoyed this! I only had one thought. Maybe cut a little low mids (250-400k?) from the main vocals. Might sound slightly more “old-timey” and not so round…if that makes sense. But sounds beautiful as-is…love it!

For the audiophiles and tech geeks ;)

Sounded great to me. Nice guitar chops! I would probably double track and hard pan that rhythm guitar, then put that lead up front and center. Sounds great Also, that Sincerity track came up right after…cool tune!

    The Flying Dutchman

Cool feel/vibe! The lead guitars should have a little more “bite” in the upper mids so they jump out a little more. Also, I think the vocal double should be a little lower in the mix to support, but not overtake, the main vocal. Maybe short delay on the vocal double (and make the delays panned...

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

I just eq, compress, and pan individual tracks. I’ve never used a M/S EQ; I’m a total amateur! I need to learn more about it. I’ll see if I have any plugins that would work. Which do you use? Edit: I just did a search. Looks like the EQ 8 in Ableton has a M/S mode. I’ll dive into that and...

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

I appreciate the feedback! By “widening in the top end” do you mean a little more top end in the panned instruments (drum overheads and rhythm guitars)? Thank you!

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

Tha Thanks, I really do appreciate all the comments. It’s so hard to judge your own music that you’ve heard one hundred times. It’s impossible to listen objectively. I’ll make some changes with I have some time this weekend.

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

I’ll play with that, thanks. The snare and kick are compressed pretty good, but there’s always more room. I do start to fight the cymbals when compressing the snare too much. A balancing act. I have only a touch of reverb on the drums. Put a convolution reverb on to hide the room sound…I can...

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

Real drums, no replacement or samples…I figured my sloppy playing would give it away! It’s been a real struggle trying to get a good drum sound in a small room…but I’m determined! Is there a specific aspect of the drums that could use some attention in the mix? EQ? Volume of an individual part...

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

Thanks, I appreciate the comments. Ideas to make the mix sound less narrow? Is it an EQ issue? Or main vocal a little too loud? Thanks. I’m guilty of long intros!

NightError … new original tune (rock, alternative, soft punk?!)

I wrote and rock-corded this last week. Lyrics are about a recurring nightmare had when I was a little kid, lol! Kind of slower pop punk/alternative. Curious how this one sounds on your end. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks for listening!

    Heart

I didn’t do a real critical listen on my little Bose Bluetooth speaker, but everything sounded clear. Nothing jumped out as strange. Great vocals. Nice work!
