What card can someone recommend to get the best possible sound for recording, WHILE maintaining 5.1 surround sound for other stuff on my computer?

I am using Adobe Audition and a Sound Blaster 5.1 card.
I cannot get my recording quality above 44mhz.
I am using Telex M-560 microphone for now, with a new and improved mic on the way!
What do I need to do get CD quality sound recording?

Where I used to be able to edit a track and listen to it after hit the preview button, for some reason, when I hit the preview button now, I hear nothing.
Any thoughts?

I mistaken;t made a change to my preview function and now I cannot hear as I tweak my recordings.
I can make the change and then play it back, but the preview feature is gone.
