I have a question on this topic. My CD wav files come in very hot for Youtube, iTunes etc. If I back off the maximizer limiter this obviously lowers the volume, and the penalty numbers come in closer, but it changes the nice compressed sound I like. The other choice is to lower the overall...
Nice recording, sounds really good to me, only thing is I'd bring the vocals up a good 2-3db. Its very annoying straining to hear them buried behind everything else.
Thanks, its hard to tell if its booming on these little speakers. I checked on headphones and thought the bottom was about maxed, so I could bring it down a hair. Thanks for the bass & kick tips I thought that really helped.
So thanks for all the help,
I re-mixed: cut the lead vocal 2db, cut the snare 1db.
Raised the piano 2db, there are 2 basses, I raised the continuous bass 2db plus added 6db of 1k as was suggested. (Cut the kick at 1k) I raised the hi gain bass 2db.
Overall mix is tighter.
I love the way a...
Overall, I thought the whole song sounds quite good. If I were to get picky (I do Classic Rock Guitar work myself), I'd say maybe the guitar could use a bit more meat in the bottom (lo-mids) and a bit less fizz like over 5k. Cool tune nice job. I'm always interested in how people record their...
This is my newly built Stratocaster.
Body and Neck from Warmouth. Neck is 10-16 compound radius with SS frets. 1-3/4" @ the nut, I did the finishing with the help of a friend who has a spray booth. The finger board is unfinished natural maple, (coated with linseed oil)
The body is a 3lb 12oz...
Have you familiarized yourself with NVME SSD drives? You will want to make your C drive an NVME drive. (IF you make a new build) As Steenamarroo pointed out, I'd either stay with the system you have and keep it simple, or be prepared for some work starting a new build. I just did one.
I just picked up this Se z5600a II tube mic. I was looking at a lot of mics in the 3-400 dollar range like the Roswell mini K47, The Lauten audio 320. The Rode NTK etc. This Se z5600a II is 999.00 new and I heard it in a shoot out. So on a whim, I checked to see if I could find a used one, and...
I hear ya, 1k is just a number and there are people raving about mics like the Roswell mini K47 for 299.00 new. Placing a dollar value on a mic, isn't the greatest scale really.
Interesting, I know plug-ins can do a lot to really make things sound pretty good, but I'm really not sure about microphones. I still think you need to spend over a thousand bucks to get a super clean super silky source from a mic. I wouldn't be surprised if there are plugins that can somehow...
I found something similar, The lead singer in my band came down with that mic, we all had 58s. I thought "wow his mic sounds great" It has a big beautiful low end, but when you EQ that mic with less bass it actually sounds a lot like a 58. If you notice in the frequency chart there's a 10db...
