Is DPC Latency The Same As Recording Latency? (Dell Laptop Question)

Hello, I have just gotten a Dell XPS 15 9750 i7, 16 GB, 256 GB, etc. etc. I have heard of it's issues with DPC latency, but nothing of recording latency. And I'm new to that term so I didn't know if they implied the same thing. Now, I have had problems with recording latency, but I didn't...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

Clyp1 - Clyp Clyp 2 - Clyp For the first link, I have a Shure SM57 plugged into the interface, at full gain sensitivity. I clap about 10 seconds in, with my back to the microphone and about 5 feet away, and then I take the microphone out of the interface, and I let it record another 10 seconds...

    Headphones/Studio Monitor mixing questions

To listen/track/mix my songs I typically use the AKGs into a Focusrite 2i2 into my laptop. I frequently listen to my mixes in cars, on a hi fi, and on my phone as well. My room is around 20'x15', and about 70-75% of the walls have acoustic panels on them. I think what I may end up doing is...

    Headphones/Studio Monitor mixing questions

I've been seriously mixing with AKG K240s for the past 10 months or so, without any sort of studio monitors in my set up (I've always planned on getting them to wrap up some mixes after everything has been recorded, but, I haven't bought any yet). I recently discovered that apparently K240s...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

44100, 24, if you only hear background noise that should just be the gain setting. On my laptop there is a very noticeable hiss that I made cut out at the end (I rendered a little bit after the track ended) so if you don’t hear it it should be the laptops problem then. I’ll still make another track

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

    h t t p s : / / c l y p . i t / e w e l 5 q h a Here's a test clyp, when I use my focusrite, at 50% volume there is background noise. But on my laptop you would hear a very noticeable hiss that slightly fades in somewhat, which I made "cut out" (basically I rendered the track with an ending a...

Using Pedals as Outboard Gear in Reaper?

Thank you, the reverb is very nice and I'll check the manual, what would I need to do if I were to use a reverb effects pedal?

Using Pedals as Outboard Gear in Reaper?

Hello, I’ve been researching how to use pedals as outboard gear, and find some of the info to be just a bit unhelpful, especially as someone that uses reaper. I understand I need to use Reainsert, but I was wondering what the settings should be at if I were to say, record reverb for vocals. My...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

Haha I know it's the weirdest thing, but it's the best thing I could find, at least I'm pretty sure it isn't as much my recordings.

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

    Thank you, I don't have an example to show of my own music as of now, but this: h t t p : / / s u n k i l m o o n . c o m / l i n d a b l a i r / Displays, on my computer, the problem I'm having, more than any other professional recording. If you don't hear any hiss in the...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

Oh haha sorry I should've known. But like I said above I'm using almost any way of listening to music on many different websites, using windows 7 on my computer. I will further check my audio settings because I do believe that while gain settings may be part of it, it's clearly also partly...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

I think there's a good chance it's simply light hiss from improper gain levels that are being (fortunately) masked in more detailed cuts. One of the parts with a lot of hiss I redid where I turned the gain down from what I usually use and then played louder and the hiss was significantly reduced.

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

"'directly into my laptop' - so you are using the internal soundcard on the laptop, and what s/w to listen? Maybe there is automatic compression on - this would account for the louder hiss before a song starts (professional recording)." I apologize but what do you mean by "s/w"? I unfortunately...

    Bizarre Mix Translation Dilemma

Hello, I've been doing a lot of audio production lately and I noticed that Ive had a bit of an issue with translation. I mix with AKG K240s -> a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 -> HP Pavilion Dv7. While mixing, these mixes sound fine, maybe a bit of hiss but usually when I have this setup that means I...
