New Song, trying to iron out kinks. (not much technical skill)

Thanks for the tips, i'll try taking the bass out of the kick. any idea what frequency range? And yeah I want the chorus harmonies more prominent, so i'm not sure if it shoudl jsut be volume up or a combo of that and less reverb and maybe getting closer to center? Yeah will try to something...

New Song, trying to iron out kinks. (not much technical skill)

https://soundcloud.com/attractmode/theend0208/ SO I kinda want a The Smiths I Know It's Over vibe with this. I don't really have much time to retrack things so this is mostly it. - I feel liek the final mixdown is much quieter than my other stuff i've put out, even after my unskilled...

    micing a twin reverb? (strat>rat>twin)

So I've been using this setup live with my band for forever and i like the sound, but for some reason whenever I try to record, it sounds either boxy or thin or muddy or basically anything OTHER than the warm gritty sonic-youth-y sound it has in the room. I'm using an sm-58 but i also have some...

    Ultra newbie, any tips? [shoegaze/indie/alt]

thanks for the tips, guys. yeah the guitar is actually through a jmp-1 preamp direct into the focusrite, so that's probably the issue haha. i normally use a twin reverb and a rat pedal, but for some reason I have not been able to capture the actual sound well, as it sounds great in the room. I...

    Ultra newbie, any tips? [shoegaze/indie/alt]

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll try bringing the vocals a little more up front and dialing back the reverb. For the guitars, is that something I could EQ out, you think? Retracking would be a bit of a pain at this point, but not impossible.

    Ultra newbie, any tips? [shoegaze/indie/alt]

So I've been in a band a while now and we've done some studio stuff but this is the first I've really tried recording at home by myself, for my side thing. I am not trying to be TOO picky with these since it's just essentially demos, but wouldn't mind making them as presentable as possible. Go...
