    Repetitive noise when recording

Yes it may be I'll have to live with it. I've used the same gear for years and it hasn't always been there so with luck it'll vanish in the same way it appeared. Glad to hear you're feeling better and back home. Wish you all the best.

    Repetitive noise when recording

Thanks for your reply. Annoying thing is it comes and goes. I move leads around and it'll stop and I think 'that's it' but it comes back. I have tried gating the track and that at least removes the distraction of it, but I always end up taking bits out or leaving bits in when I gate - I'm...

    Repetitive noise when recording

Hi, Sorry for delay in reply. I clicked the box for email notifications but as none received I thought there weren't any. I'm grateful for your advice and I will get a clip sorted to upload. My best wishes to Rob for a speedy return to health. Not using a USB mixer - Soundcraft MFX connecting...

    Repetitive noise when recording

Hi, Got a problem with a repetitive noise when recording guitar. It's like a road drill banging away in the distance. Please see attached file which shows the noise frequencies. The guitar is connected to an external Soundcraft mixer via a Behringer DI box and then to PC Windows XP/Cubase 4 The...

    Panning identical mono tracks

It's the lack of backward compatibility that gets me down. All these companies bring out non stop updates and disregard the user by withdrawing support when they see fit. I run my setup on a closed system - so no internet connection. My online activity is on a separate PC. It's hard to see how...

    Panning identical mono tracks

I guess I'm a bit anti endlessly updating and playing the corporate game. Updating comes with a certain amount of baggage also. I have a Soundcraft MFX mixer which I love and an Audiophile soundcard. Beyer M260 and Shure Unisphere1 mics. More plugins than I could ever need although I stick to...

    Panning identical mono tracks

I've looked around but doesn't seem like it.

    Panning identical mono tracks

No not really. It's just that I record pretty much everything in mono and I've tried hard panning to see if it gives more spread. Initially I thought it did but following the advice above I suspect my ears are lying again. I record pretty much everything in mono as I've always understood stereo...

    As I often tell myself.

    Panning identical mono tracks

Just had a look but unfortunately I'm running an antique setup (XP & Cubase 4) which won't accomodate the plugin by the look of it.

    Thanks again. That's very clear.

    Panning identical mono tracks

I see. So what's the best way to treat a mono track to create more spread?

    Panning identical mono tracks

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. So, if I were to pan the two identical tracks say L60 & R60 with no delay, would that work without issues and give a better spread of the sound?

    Panning identical mono tracks

I know that panning identical tracks 100% L & R isn't a good idea due to phasing issues. If I delay one channel by 10 ms or so and pan both to 80 or 90% would that work ok? In this case it's a heavy guitar track. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Solved haas effect query

Thanks for reply Jimmy. Yes I am registered and I'm running 4.5.2 which I think was the latest update. I'll try the preferences thing and hope it does the trick. I'm asking around a few people as well so hopefully I'll get it sorted. Will let you know. Much appreciate your advice.
