    Questions on a Live/Jam set-up

First sorry if my words get a bit strange, my English is not that great sometimes. I basically set up using warm pads and string piano samples along with some prepped sounds, I tweak the pads to get the right sound. Basic instruments – calliope, bass slide are great.... you said you want a...

    Questions on a Live/Jam set-up

I usually play on the acoustic/rock, electronica/dance; I found that sometimes when trying a new genre of sorts it is mainly trial and error somewhat. If I haven’t confused myself reading your question, it sounds somewhat easy what you want to achieve, this link may offer a bit more information...

    Is it me or Myspace?

I would agree with B.SABBATH and ido1957, tweak the drums sound they slightly power everything. Your vocals are cool in this song however (to my ears) you sounded rushed, you sung it in a punk like tempo. I'm not sure how to word it but you seemed to cut your lyrics a bit too short 'didn't...

    Native Instruments

NI Kore2 is fairly easy, of course there are moments that are complicated but things work out well. I can’t express enough great things about it; I would imagine there will be moments where I will want something better but so far NI K2 has all I want.

Hopefully by doing these tips I will be able to load some of my songs to myspace, instead of getting them loaded only for them to delete themselves without my permission.

    ProTools?

Thanks guys, yes I do want to lay down some money on a good one someday; at the moment the money isn’t there. All of it is going towards helping to pay off hospitals and funerals bills. I will check out all that you all suggested.

    ProTools?

I've asked this on other forums, I'm trying to get the best solution. Question: I am doing some small music demos on my pc. I was going to use ProTools, but the free version only works on 98 and ME, I have XP home. What other recording software could I use that actually works great or somewhat...

Can you learn or is it a gift?

True that is. In the first beginning, it was a gift of playing... so they told me. Now, I'm thinking it was pure luck that I got into music easy. Now with the writing, it was good ... now? Like griffon65 said sucks and sucks hard. I song write and write poetry. What I feel is my poetry sucks...

    Which Sticks Do You Use?

This is a great topic, I've learned so much. I might try doing an article on drum sticks. I never thought that there would be a need for advice for them.

    Which Sticks Do You Use?

Sounds like with Vic Firth, I didn't know what I was missing. I suppose I will be purchasing Vic Firth on my next music shop adventure. No warpage - that's a good thing for sure.

    Which Sticks Do You Use?

There was no selection for all of the above. Well, all except for Vater and Vic Firth. I have a few that are not of a brand name. Just sticks for Rock by The Willis Music Co. and that one seems to be holding up well, by surprise. Though, sometimes I have played them too hard and split them...

why does no one use pro tools?

That's the reason why I haven't used ProTools yet and the fact that it cost too much. I was wanting to use it but for perhaps free. There was one that was like ProTools and has its name for free but it doesn't have all what I want in the features and plus by now, they don't have it for free...

Can you learn or is it a gift?

I agree with tdurex, "you can study the craft and practice writing songs for eight hours a day 365 days a year and never produce any memorable material" I have done the same, felt the same and still do. I just finished a writing a song and recording the music to it. So far, everyone loves it...

    recording a bass drum

Oops my bad, perhaps that's my problem. I'm using a screwed up compressor. I don't use it much. What do you suggest are good compressors? How do you like Shure beta 52 and a 58 mic?
