    Composite Video Cable Question

Someone gave me a composite video cable, but the left jack has 2 outer 'prongs' on one end, which prevents it from seating. What is the purpose of this?

    Octopre Substitutes?

Decided to get the Clarett Octo. Can the pre-amps on this be bypassed if need be?

    Octopre Substitutes?

Was asking about digital. I make my own analogue.

    Octopre Substitutes?

Good quality cables for this purpose? (Prices vary wildly from what I've seen.)

    Octopre Substitutes?

All the info I've seen states one cable is needed. Is this only for inputting a signal?

    Octopre Substitutes?

Not sure what this means: ...the Scarlett OctoPre is an option, however, this unit doesn't feature an ADAT Input to send a signal to onboard Line Outputs.

    Octopre Substitutes?

I have 10 pieces of analogue outboard gear, though my interface only has 8 channels. I currently use one channel (in & out) of the Clarett to route each piece of gear to and from the computer (2 channels for stereo gear.) I'm tired of reaching behind and unplugging to switch gear, and don't...

    Octopre Substitutes?

Yes - I need both inputs and outputs. The 8200 is interesting, though with my current set-up not feasible with all its inputs on the front-panel.

    Octopre Substitutes?

This is for getting balanced outboard gear in & out of my computer. My Clarett has balanced ins & outs through TRS connectors. The Octopre, while having similar inputs, it only has insert points, which are not balanced. So by using the breakout cable, these outputs would be balanced?

    Octopre Substitutes?

Thinking of getting the Scarlett Octopre instead, as this has balanced outs without buying a DSub cable.

    Octopre Substitutes?

I am looking to increase the ins & outs by adding an interface to my Clarett+ 8. I was initially thinking of the Octopre, but am put off by the fact it has unbalanced insert points, with balanced outs only through a DSub connector. These cables are not cheap, which will add to the overall cost...

    Reaper Reinsert Not Initially Recording

This is an issue I've been having since I started using Reaper, and no one has ever solved the problem: One technique I use often is to send a signal through Reinsert to an outboard unit, then take the output of that track and record it to another, with the effect present. Each time I press...

    Clarett S/PDIF Question

What's the deal with Hosa anyway? Are they a reputable company? It's been many years, but I remember Whirlwind was the go-to cable company, and it seemed like overnight, their products were overtaken by Hosa. It was at a point where you couldn't buy a cable if it wasn't their brand (which never...

    Clarett S/PDIF Question

Thanks - the problem is the outs are unbalanced on the Octopre, and Bricasti recommends balanced ins and outs for best performance. The ins are balanced, but instead of balanced outs, it has insert points, which are not. (You can get balanced outs using the DSub connector, though I'm not quite...

    Clarett S/PDIF Question

I have a Clarett+ interface and have run out of ins and outs for my outboard gear. I was going to buy an Octopre for the added inputs, which will include a Bricasti M7 unit. I was told I can hook the unit up digitally, but the Bricasti uses an EBU connector while the Clarett uses an S/PDIF...
