It was acting odd, but I wasn't having the clipping problem if I padded the Microphones. I did get clipping even if the level was low if I didn't pad however. This is both of the XLR ins of my Interface, with two seperate cables.

It feels like a pre-amp or interface issue. In around a week I'll have a working TASAM 1800 to try.

No haha. The issues are the levels being displayed on my Fast Track C400 being wonky, and getting clipping when I was recording guitar, when the levels weren't even half way to the max.

I meant the condensers worked fine on drums. I didn't use a ribbon on the drums.

yeah, the amp was really quiet. and it worked fine with drums that were much louder.

I used a ribbon mic and had the same problem.

Hey guys. Some of you might know me from my TASCAM issues, but this is a different problem! I'm recording with a M-Audio Interface, and a MXL V63M condenser mic, or two if i'm doing drums. but the lights where the level is shown on the M-Audio have been acting weird, like not lighting up past...

No, just confirmed that it wasn't connecting haha. However Musicians friend accepted my return (awesome of them, since i bought it from them lightly used). Would another TASCAM 1800 be recomended? or a different interface?

ah. found it. the tascam doesn't show up in system profiler, and the time out occured when trying to install the drivers, after I was prompted to plug in the interface.

It said the drivers couldn't be installed because of a time out, presumably because the computer couldn't find the interface when i was prompted to plug it in.

There's no system profiler in OSX Lion. Give me ten minutes to test it on my freinds toshiba.

yes, 100% sure. I'm using drivers 2.00, while the 2.10 drivers are for snow lion. No USB hub, doesn't show up in the audio/midi set up. I'll try it with my buddys computer today, which is windows. So that will be the moment of truth.

yes haha. buut the light that indicates a valid usb connection isn't on. i've tested my usb ports and used two different cables, so I'm sure thats not the issue.
