So 2 mono signals into one mic gives one mono output

Hi. I've been looking at and listening to ribbon mics online the last few days. One of them was a stereo Ribbon mic from Royer that sounds just lovely and it got me thinking; if Ribbons pick up sound from both sides (figure 8) why would you need a stereo version? Sorry if thats a really dumb...

XLR/XLR or XLR/Jack should work fine. At least I get a decent level from both with my Mbox 2 Pro and an SM58. I think you've got a problem with some buttons being pressed that shouldn't be. For example you might have a 'pad' on or else you've chosen the wrong channels when you go to record.

It's a sign.... don't use auto tune :)

Thanks kip. It's for recording my band. We record in a very small space and I want to get a more directional mic for the 'main' instruments clarinet/bass clarinet/guitar. I get a nice room sound with omni mics which picks up drums and bass nicely so I'm just curious if I could isolate the other...
