    Zoom's MRS-1044

Hmmm... but since it must have some kind of "transmit file" command, as well as some kind of "receive file" command, don't you think it might work..? USB connectivity is not Windows proprietary, is it? cheers /Tommy

    Zoom's MRS-1044

Hi Legume & all, thanks for the response - I take it that you've found a way to work with files in the PC domain, and then link the files back to the 1044. Sounds good enough to me - if you found a way, hopefully I can figure it out as well! Regarding the "swapability" issue - if you both have...

    Zoom's MRS-1044

USB questions Hi guys, still considering getting a Zoom MRS-1044, with the USB card... but I have a couple of quick questions that you guys hopefully :) can answer: I understand that you can move tracks from the 1044 to the PC, via USB, in wav format. But what about the other direction? If I...

    Another Divorce song.

I like this lyric Chris - as I did "Mute" (didn't post on that one though, there was so much going on with that rhs guy...) I think the verse that stuck with me the most was: I still have the clothes that you bought me But I don't wear them any more They're in the closet with the other old...

    playing shows

Well, I agree with you Studge... in a way. Sure, it has nothing to do with songwriting... but it's kinda interesting to get a feel for how many gigs the songwriters do, don't ya think? For that reason, I thought the question was interesting in this area... I don't play out much anymore (caved...

Having a hard time creating melodies.....

Hi Nutdotnet, what kind of music do you play/write/like? Just to get a feel for "where you're at", maybe it'll be easier to discuss, knowing what kind of stuff you like. A few bands you can mention maybe? cheers /Tommy

    BEST UNDERRATED GUITARISTS---------

Dimeola - McLaughlin - De Lucia UNDERRATED? Are you joking? UnderAPPRECIATED by a mass audience - in other words underCONSUMED, I can happily go along with. But these guys are definitely not underrated... They're seen as virtuoso extremes! Have you ever checked the Guitar Player polls..? (if I...

    help updating lyrics!

In all humbleness, I don't think you got that strong reply  cause your writing skills hit him between the eyes... kinda got the feeling that he just didn't like you very much... :( By "updating" I meant "rewriting" or maybe adding on... to cover the latest phenomenons... in other words...

What makes a mix sound "glossy" or "slick" or "pop"?

Hahaha... actually I really agree with SirRiff, dead on! But to be a bit serious regarding your upcoming recording... be picky with the band. Make sure they & their gear sound good in themselves BEFORE taping anything, so you don't get blamed if they sound like shit. If they sound terrible...

    Should I Pay Kris Kristofferson?

Does Kristoffersons song crash in Netscape? If not, you should be in the clear... ;) good luck /Tommy p.s. Never mind if the song is similar. You know that you wrote it. If it becomes big enough to get you sued, that's nice problems for you. Don't worry about it, this kinda stuff will...

    help updating lyrics!

Haha, rotflmao! Thanks for all the input Henri, Philboyd & Chazba... the virtual mall, clicking and pointing etc is a definite go! Haven't decided yet about the burping and farting, but probably pass on that, although I might spin on the theme... Why bother with all the hassle of having real...

    mixing at the right time

    >So, I got away with it but if you really can mix another day, mix another day. > >Anyone got any tips on handling stroppy customers when you really really need the business? Sounds like you did a really good job, rich! Here's an analogy I get away with more often than not when people want to...

    help updating lyrics!

Hi guys, this is a lyric for a pop tune I wrote a long time ago... around 1994 I believe (the ancient past...) I like it okay, problem is that so much has happened in the world since then that it seems outdated or at least lacking in content... read it and you'll see what I mean. Basically...

    need help

Entertaining post Chriss... got lots of laughs... just hope you don't come off as making fun of any people who post stuff here. It would be a shame if this great site became intimidating in any way. It's called "homerecording.com", not "reallyexperiencedrecording.com". That said, I'm gonna read...

How to get that clean sound ???

Don't wanna get TOO off-topic, but good instruments, amps, players/singers, arrangements and material sorta make a difference as well... rock on /Tommy

    BEST UNDERRATED GUITARISTS---------

UNDERRATED guitarists, right..? Agree with loads that's been said if we're talking underrated... like Paul Simon, James Honeymoon Scott, Elliot Easton, Don Felder, Mick Ronson, Lindsay Buckingham, George Harrisson, Rick Nielsen, on and on and on... I agree with lots of others regarding...

    mixing at the right time

mixing mixing Yeah, I also try to put a lot of time between finishing recording and starting to mix, if I have the luxury of waiting - and the patience... ;) It ALWAYS turns out better for me that way - I'll spend a little time on a rough mixdown to capture my ideas, and maybe make some notes...
