    Kurzweil me-1

I haven't heard the presets for the Kurzweil stage pianos but I'm assuming they are the same good quality as of those in the ME-1, so getting more piano sounds may not be what you're looking for. As warble said, the synth pads sounds are not impressive, the organ sounds I don't think are too...

    what should I charge.

If I were you, like I say, I wouldn't look at it as a way to make money at this point. The $100 would basically go towards more and better equipment. Take the session as a learning experience...as long as it may take. In the end, you'll learn more and the people you're recording for would be...

    Powertraks for 29.00

It's more than worth it if you're just starting out, period! Or if you do mostly audio and you want something to handle your MIDI. For 29 bucks it ain't pretty, but it does the job ;)

    what should I charge.

You guys are brutal! :D At this point, I think you shouldn't be thinking about making money. I would try to record as many friends who are willing to pay you like $100 per session and you should take advantage and learn the art of recording. It will take some time (and better equipment)...

    Pro Tools LE

Try the LE version if you're able to get it to work on your computer. If you have Win XP I think it won't even install. I tried it on my machine with Win ME and had to dump it because it kept locking up, and from what I hear I'm not the only one with this type of problem. But hey! Give it a...

    Considering getting Cool Edit 2.1

Thanks for the replies! So I guess I shouldn't worry too much about my computer not being able to handle 20 to 24 tracks. Is there another issue I should consider? I'm using Win ME and a MIA card.

Thanks! Up to how many tracks you'd been able to record?

    Considering getting Cool Edit 2.1

Hey guys, I have not done a lot of recording lately (2 years) and what I used to record was mostly MIDI so I didn't need much audio editing capabilities. Now, I have invested in some microphones and pre-amps and would like to record more audio. I don't do as much to justify getting Pro Tools...

    Keyboards around $600

The guys at Gelb are great and I actually tried it out there but I got a much better price online. I had a gift certificate from MF, that I got for my birthday so I ended up paying less than $250 for it. But I buy all my small stuff (strings, cables etc.) at Gelb and always leave with...

    Jackson Guitars??

Haven't played one in more than ten years but I used to play with someone who had one custom made. It was a soloist model, neck-thru body, pearl inlays, custom paint job, reverse headstock and all the goodies. It was a soloist alright; great for solos, great sustain but if you wanted to play a...

    Keyboards around $600

I'm also mainly a guitar player and recently bought the ME-1 module. So far, I'm very pleased with the sounds. The pianos are excelent, and the strings mix nicely. The drum sets are very good for something at this price range (better than many drum machines out there). I use it with a cheap...

    Bass Pod or...?

2nd Quarter '03 is what their website says, but many times those release dates get pushed back quite a few weeks or months (BTW, it's already 2nd quarter). Again, it's a Behringer, so make sure you try it out; although judging by the V-amp this should have more than decent modeling.

    Bass Pod or...?

You may want to try out the Behringer Bass V-amp...whenever it comes out. It should sell for much less than the Bass Pod.

    RNP order

Post ofiice? Ha! yeah, you can rush all you want, you'll still find a yellow slip on your door saying you have to go pick it up before 4:30 at some post office you didn't even know existed :D

Can Anyone Help me Decide Between SP-5B or TR5

I know what you mean, I saw them at Musician's Friend loooong before I saw anything about them on Event's website. But online stores swear that they have them in stock, so I guess they do exist. Maybe they will oficially debut at Winter NAMM? I'm tempted to just oder a pair and return them if...

Can Anyone Help me Decide Between SP-5B or TR5

Damn! I got the same dilemma. I've heard the SP5B's and I liked them for my small room but the Events are nowhere to be found besides online. I like the 20/20bas but I don't know how the TR5's compare to those. I guess I'll wait until some local store has them, but my gut feeling is to go for...

    inexpensive active monitors

I've also been meaning to post a question about these monitors. I haven't heard them yet but Event makes some good monitors (IMHO) and at that price they're kind of hard not to notice. Anybody have any comments on these?

best (dynamic) recording mic under 125$

I've recorded vocals with a SM57 with great results! If you're not going to use a condenser, you can't go wrong with SM57 for $80.
