    Mixing voice with background static

As a follow up question. How do you guys usually treat your audio? I ask this because I was using some senheiser headphones plugged to an alesis io2 express interface. But yesterday I wanted to show some of those audio files and I used the sound card within my mac and it sounded completely...

    Mixing voice with background static

I don't think I can do this... I probably won't be with the person who did this again... only in case of emergency... so I'm using that as a last minute resort. Thank you, I'll look this up. So I'm fixing the audio after I "screw" it by removing the static? Perhaps in a later post next...

    Mixing voice with background static

Greetings, Let me get straight to the point, I'm trying to edit some voice recordings I did, but has usual there's always some nasty background static that keeps getting in the way. I'm using Reaper and I just tested it's noise reduction FX, you "teach" him what noise is and he removed it...

    Set my home studio up!!

thanks for the replies musical bro's/sista's, FL Studio - there are several ways to run this on a Mac I believe. I have a Windows 8 VM and I guess I could just use that. But it's bound to slow down things since it will consume more memory and processor. I usually wouldn't worry about this, but...

    Set my home studio up!!

Hey guys, I have a ton of questions. Now some may sound stupid because I don't really know how these things work, but I'm pretty sure they can be done... maybe just not with my gear. Before I start let me break down the material list so we know what I'm dealing with .Mac Book air .Alesis IO2...

sight... I'm back here again... audio software

I already downloaded Audacity and Reaper. All I need is to try them out. But I've been so tired lately... I know my way around audacity moderately well. As for Reaper... only time will tell.

    Quick question - cheap keyboards

Hey hey! I would like to hear some recommendations. I currently have a keyboard of my own, a Yamaha PSR 323 and it's pretty cool. I like to play on weekends, when I have more free time, but I usually go to a different house and I cannot carry that huge keyboard to play for the weekend and then...

sight... I'm back here again... audio software

I've tried audacity before. I have to say I can't complain but I never really used it for more than mere cutting and boosting audio... I should download it, I think it's something you should always keep around just in case (maybe they even have an app for that... yeah ... looks like there...

sight... I'm back here again... audio software

Hi everyone... I've been playing and recording music for God knows how long, and still I feel like this is the place for me to leave this post, since this is a rather "newb" question. Point is, despite playing music for a long time I feel like I've progressed very little. Anyway, the question...

Where is the hiss coming from?

So it may be many things... this time I did a smaller recording with my microphone. Just had the microphone directly plugged tho the computer which had only the battery. Still there was some background noise... the microphone is a jts je1, beeing omnidirectional mic I think it happens because...

Where is the hiss coming from?

I think it helps a little and reduces some of the noise, but there's still some background stuff. And what about the low amped (not sure how to call it) wave exported from cubase?

Where is the hiss coming from?

Greetings fellow musicians, So I'm pretty much your average home musician. I'm not really that good and I allegedly play guitar and keyboard and try to sing. Anyway, here's my 2 problems. I will post a "little" clip of recording. This was actually an idea I happened to come up for a little...

    [URGENT] help choosing a mic

Before I forget, thanks for the quick replies, they helped out a lot, but I forgot a great setback. Since I need the mic with relative urgency I had to go with what was available in the stores. I can through a few and it seemed that the best I could find was the JTS JTS js 1 e, which was even...

    [URGENT] help choosing a mic

For 120€ (154$), I wouldn't consider the 2020 a "cheap mic" at all. And I do remember testing it in a store. Not sure if I can find it anymore but I'll give it a shot. I'll look some other mics up just in case I need a backup plan. But The AT2020 is a USB microphone if I'm not mistaken... With...

    [URGENT] help choosing a mic

Greetings, This is a bit of an urgent request, I hope you can reply in time. Allow me to explain. A couple of months ago (maybe an year) I was really into searching a good condenser mic to record both acoustic guitar and voice. Due to lack of funds I dropped my search kept a note on my phone...

Question - how to open cubase files in Reaper (if possible)

I appreciate the offer. My friend sent the audios on the side with the rest of the stuff. I think he exported each instrument individually and since I couldn't open it I could at least grab the parts and set it all in Reaper or Cubase. He later warned me the speed wasn't 120 bpm (as standard)...

Question - how to open cubase files in Reaper (if possible)

It's a shame... I guess I'll have to install an older version of cubase I have lying around.
