    Can't find MXL V67m and 603s

I was just responding to another post where someone asked about the MXL v67 and the 603. I told him you could get both for around $170 (getting the Mars version of the v67) then went to find them online to provide links. I can't find either one! The Mars website does not list ANY version of...

    Sqeaks on playback

When I playback my recordings, I often get what I can only decribe as a squeak every few seconds. They are very short duration, and sound kind of like sneakers on a basketball court. It only happens when I play audio that is stored on my dedicated audio drive (40 gig, 7200 RPM, defragged)...

    Livesynth Pro Price Reduction

Just thought I'd pass on some info. If you are looking to buy Livesynth Pro, go to Scott Garigus' review: http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/reviewdetails.asp?ProdReviewID=8 There's a link from the review that gives you 20% off, so ends up around $50.

    Short-term memory loss?

I have been having lots of trouble with my computer system. I am running Sonar with the Aardvark Q10 on Win 2K, but I had similar trouble when I had PA 9 and Win 98 SE. When I first start up, the computer operates slowly (e.g. opening programs) and I can't play my recordings. Eventually...

Disabling PCI steering in Win 2000

I've been having trouble with my sound card locking up on me. I think that the trouble is an IRQ conflict with my video card, which shares the same IRQ. In Win 98, this was easily fixed, but now I have Windows 2000 which won't allow me to assign IRQs manually. I know there is some way to...

    Question on Sonar playback meters

I have a question on how the main bus playback meters are routed in Sonar. There are three options: pre fader, pre fader/post effects, and post fader. Now, the way I read the manual, "post fader" is also "post effects". But, when I use a limiter on my main bus I get strange results. Choosing...

    Aardvarkers - XP or 2000?

It is nice to finally be able to ask this question! I want to upgrade from Windows 98, but don't know if I want XP or 2000. I've heard VERY mixed things about XP, which makes me think that 2000 is the way to go. At least I know all my devices will have drivers for 2000. I haven't really...

Money back garuntee on Sonar upgrade

FYI, I got a "Cakewalk newsletter" in my email box that says I can try a Sonar upgrade for 60 days and if I'm not happy return it for a full refund. I assume this is not just a special offer for me, and that anyone can take advantage of it. But, I can't find any info on the garuntee on the...

Aardvark released its XP and 2000 drivers!

The planets have aligned, and I think Hell is getting chilly, because Aardvark just posted the Windows XP and 2K drivers on their website. The link still says "Prerelease", but when you click it you go to the driver download page and can download it. I just hope they work.

    XP vs. XP Pro

Sorry if this has been covered, but when I search "XP" I get an error that the search string is too short. I want to upgrade to XP to go with my new Sonar 2.0 I just ordered :) Now, I remember browsing through some posts a while back about how XP Pro was somehow superior to XP for recording...

    inserts as inputs?

I've seen some questions on this thread whether built-in preamps on some sound cards (like the Aardvark Q10) can be bypassed so a different preamp can be used instead. From what I've read, the built-in preamps can't be completely bypassed, just the trim turned down, so the preamp is still...

    upgrade to Sonar 2 soon!

FYI, all the Sonar 2 upgrades (from Cakewalk, Sonar 1.0 etc.) will be going up in price $50 on June 15. If you want to upgrade, better to do it soon. I got this info from an email newletter from Cakewalk, I don't know if it is on their website.

    MXL 603 for $50!!

I saw this mentioned in another recent post by Delphonic, but figured it could use some advertising. Shreveaudio.com has MXL 603s for $50 each. They are not listed on their website for some reason, but you can call them at 800-214-9222 and they'll hook you up. Didn't this site once have a...

    overhead mic recordings?

I am currently using a pair of C1000s condensor mics for my drum kit, but am looking at other realtively cheap options. I find the C1000s a little shrill on cymbals (although they make my toms sound great). There of lots of posts that say great things about several mics, notably the Marshall...

    DIY electronic drums - cheap!

I've been reading a few threads here about electonic drums, but haven't seen anything about DIY (do it yourself) drums. So, I figured I'd post some info on the subject. Electronic drums can be very useful for a variety of reasons (quiet, sound font use etc.), but are obviously really...

Update on XP drivers for Aardvark

I just spoke with Thomas Adler of Aardvark about Windows XP drivers, and thought I'd pass on what I learned. Aardvark now anticipates releasing the final drivers on March 29. Maybe I'm jaded, but I am not holding my breath. I also learned that the pre-release Aardvark XP drivers currently...

    CWPA9 and soft synths

Hi, I've been recording audio for a few months now, and am starting to try my hand at MIDI. I understand the basics of MIDI (I think), but am having some trouble when I try to use the Yamaha xg-50 soft synth. My setup is: Athlon T-Bird 1.4 ghz, 250 meg Ram, 2 Maxtor HDs (both 7200 and plenty...

    Q10 and A7m266 conflict!?!?

Hi all, I'm a long time listener, first time caller. I thought I'd pass on some info about a possible card/MoBo conflict. I recently bought an Aardvark Q10, and put it in my brand new computer with an Asus A7M266 MoBo. I am having all kinds of timing problems, and weird "crackling" once the...
